If you're a ZZ Top fan, and you watch concert dvd's you probably know they don't have one out....Until now. Amazon is taking pre orders for their new concert dvd "Live From Texas" now, to be realeased June 24th.

I'm looking forward to getting my copy, I hope it lives up to my expectations. :)

It would be great if it is filmed and recorded well. I really like watching concert DVD's but have found them to be hit or miss on quality. I'll wait for your review or other reviews before I buy it.

Youre right about the hit or miss, and I'd include how it's edited in that (Mrs Rat hates quick screen changes). But, at 12.99 I decided to take a chance on it.

On Clapton's guitar festival they closed the show and that recording sounded great...for sure I will pick this one up. I really like the drum kit that they use.

little known factoid about that night when zz was playin at the cottonbowl, there was a bad storm in the area. Lots of lightning. They would have played longer that night but it was announced it was over due to storm. The crowd wanted an encore but unfortunately it didn't happen.

That dvd is recorded very well. Enjoy it every time i watch it.

Not that it matters, but i wonder where this new one is was recorded??

I'll sure buy one. Thanks for the heads up.

$13? How bad can the sound quality be? Although, I did come across a Nazareth dvd that was absolutely HORRIBLE s.q. wise. Had to be a bootleg. Both crossroad dvds were great sounding. Hope this one is mo' the same.

I picked this up as well and was totally disappointed in the sound quality. I found it rather anemic and lifeless.....not even close to the sound quality in the first Clapton guitar festival when they closed the show.

after watching it now for the 3rd time I will have to agree with you on the fact that the recording is not as good as the cross roads festival.Crossroads was done much better.

however i sure like the jimmy hendrix cover

A bit off topic,, but I thought that I remember reading somewhere that ZZ Top records their "studio" takes with all analog gear.Anyone confirm/deny?
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Well, I never got around to ordering it, but I dvr'd it off VH1.

I'm not at all impressed with the way the vid was shot. I'm not a big fan of fast editing in cocncert vids. I find it distracting when they cut to a different shot every couple of seconds.

Obviously I can't comment on the sound quality, but the way it was shot may be the deal breaker for me. Mrs Rat's already stated we don't need to get it, and she likes ZZ Top.
