Bad Juju

Last night about 2215 while I was on-line with you guys about vinyl, the earth shook a little. I had the windows right next to me open, but didn't hear anything, I just felt it. Figured maybe a tree came down on the property or something. 5 minutes later I got two Medivac choppers right over the house. They fill the skylights. They don't land and after 10 minutes or so they depart.
20 year old boy made a real bad motor vehicle decision about 300 yds from where I'm sitting. It cost him his life. He clipped a pole and flipped the vehicle. His girlfriend was in the car behind him trying to catch him.
That thud I felt was a 20 year old life snuffed out. They used my neighbors telephone to inform his family. It happened right in front of a home that houses a family that lost a son the exact same way from what I understand.
I'm a little off my game today.

we had a prom-night accident like that down the street from my home about a decade ago. Something woke us in the middle of the night. Shortly afterwards, we could hear the amplified radio chatter around the corner, so it was pretty obvious what had happened. They speculated the car was going about 80 on the tiny, winding country road. No need for the Medivac helicopter that night. Not good.
Tough stuff to deal with for all concerned; take care, George.
EDIT: At the graduation that year, the Sr. class accepted the kid's diploma, passed it from hand to hand, and presented it to his parents. A touching scene. -
Very sad. I've made some bad decisions in my life, luckily I'm still here.If...

Huge edit Mark, and a nice tribute by the senior class.

Always very sad to see that happen, especially when it happens so close to where you live. Makes me hug my kids a little tighter and hope I can impart in them the wisdom to avoid tragic mistakes like this. Hang in there!DKG999

I've seen way to many of those accidents during my EMS days. Sad to hear.

Very sad news indeed George. I remember years ago in High School losing a friend every year to a vehicle accident. Those were tough years.Michael
