    One last thought would be to use the 1/8" line-in on the sound card instead of the 1/8" mic input, if it has both.

    Your mic preamp's circuitry is generating a line-level signal and its circuitry is likely much better than the mic circuitry in the sound card.

    I think they're the same port on my soundcard.
