picked up a set of JBL L46 yesterday for a great price, along with about 200 titles of mostly very nice vinyl and the phillips turntable i posted about in 2 channel. these are my first "classic" JBL's--- i have previously owned J series bookshelfs and a mid-sized pair of northridge consumer-crap. frankly, i was floored by the sound of these things; driven by an adcom 545. a lot bigger than their stature, with impressive bass and tight imaging--- and they werent even placed ideally, just kind of in front of everything else and toed in 20 degrees on too-low stands, lol. the cabinets are chewed up a little, but some old english scratch cover has worked wonders for me yet again. the veneer was very dry and soaked it up like an alcoholic in the desert.
as you can see, the screen "guard" is missing from one of the tweeters. doesnt seem to alter sound one way or another, but i like symmetry. where on earth could i find a part like that? or should i just go ahead and take the other side off? no kids here, so curious fingers arent much concern. what do y'all think i should do?
oh yes, bandwidth killing pics..... yes, my camera still sux, and yes i still need to sweep/dust :p
BTW, the "spots" are just lens spooge.

Nice speakers. I love classic JBL speakers. They are still highly collectable and more importantly sound sweet. For the covers, check ebay. I see a lot of random stuff there and it may pop up. Good luck

I had my hands on a pair of Novas earlier and I was impressed by how primitave the crossovers were. There was no low pass circuit at all. I wondered how much they could be improved by a better crossover.

I would try e-bay, or see if you can find a vintage JBL forum with parts floating around. That might be your best bet.
