Good luck, Willow. I just went through the same operation in November of 2006 and then had lumbar fusion May 2007. After 10+ years of gradually getting worse, I can honestly say that it is the best decision I have ever made. I have been completely pain free and symptom free since I woke up in recovery that May. Hopefully you will experience the ame success. Good luck and Godspeed.

Thanks everyone, I had the same orperation on the same disk back in 03. My Dr prefers not to fuse them this time, if for some reason it happens again, then he will.

Good luck with that surgery. You're positive about it and that's all you need.

Doro, I will let you touch the 5 screws I have in my left leg at Polkferst.

good luck with the surgery and the recovery... will you have to go in for physical therapy? while physical therapy is painful, it's also a very important part of the total healing process.

I was told once that the harder you work during your physical therapy routine, the better than final results will be. :)

I had 7 screws, a steel plate and a pin. They are in all in small plastic jar now, I plan to raffle it off at Polkfest.

    Hang in there Willow.

Looks like 7 is the lucky number... I also had 7, but they removed 2 after 45 days (they were temporary and went through both shinbone and calf bone). I also have a plate, and 2 screws.
I was supposed to have everything removed after 2 years. That was 15 years ago. I think I will take them with me.

I know; nobody cares. Back to Willow. Good luck again.

Good luck. I've had 9 discs done, 3 in my neck and 6 in lower/middle back. Plates, rods, screws and 2 prosthetic discs. Neck turned out fine, its been 6 years this month. Back?, after 5 years I can still walk, tho after 2.5 perfectly pain-free years, it's been slowly coming back, but it was in such bad shape I was kinda expecting it.
