Hello, this is my first time on this site, and hope I am posting in the right area. My present equipment is
Kenwood VR-4700 A/V receiver
2 Velodyne ULD-15 subs
B&W DM 602-S2,MD 603-S2,CC6-S2 speakers
Toshiba HD-DVD
Monster power center HTS-2500
Vizio 47" 1080p LCD
HDMI 3x1 splter
although that Kenwood is an excellent receiver. I am considering upgrading to a Pioneer Elite VSX-49TX.
The main reason I am considering this upgrade is my lack of knowledge in setting up my system properly. The Pioneer come with a microphone that I believe sets up the proper parameters for the speakers, and it also has based management. And I also believe it has provisions for two subwoofers "which is the case in my system" presently. I am only using 5.2 channels, though a Pioneer is seven (would be nice for future) I guess my question is does it make sense to upgrade to the Pioneer? We'll set up really be easy for someone like me with very little knowledge? And the second part of my question is, does it make sense to purchase the Pioneer at its coursed. I can pick one up for about $600 on eBay, I believe the retail is about $4500. Or would I be better served spending my $600 on a new A/V receiver that comes equipped with HDMI inputs?

Welcome Sorvino. That Pioneer looks terrific. The question you have to ask yourself is do you/will you need/use all the features of a current receiver. If the answer is no, then get the Pioneer & enjoy.

Welcome to Club Polk. I personally like the HK's. They are way more realistically rated than other receivers. 50 watts HK is better than 100 watts most others. Also liked here a lot is the Onkyo's, and Denon's.
