Don't you just hate nights where you can't go to sleep?

I do. This last week wasn't to kind to me. First off, I chipped a tooth, luckily my fiancee knows the dentist so he knocked the price down to $130 to fix it. Then, I find a huge gash in my rear tire on my motorcycle...deeper than the tread, when the tire is only a couple months old. Motorcycle tires don't offer hazard warranties. Another $155 out the door. And to top it off, Sunday night my laptop falls and the screen cracks...wonderful. New screen is about $155 off ebay.

Meanwhile, my fiancee and I are going through the loan process to get a new house. We get an email for what I thought would be all the information my mortgage lender will need to get this going and then I notice one thing I missed. So I have to call a company I have a student loan with to get some information from them. It usually takes 5-7 business days to get that information, meanwhile we have to be out of this duplex by July 31st. We also found an absolutely fantastic property and I just know it's going to be under contract before we can even put a bid in on it.

Talk about when it rains, it pours:o

Plus, I got off early today and took a nap, so its making it that much harder to go to bed...doh...
/end rant.

Yep. I wish I was sleeping right now. Good luck on getting the house, and fix that tire!

I gave up on getting a good nights sleep a long time ago. I average less than 4 hours a night during the week and on weekends im lucky to hit 6 hours.

Is eating a waste of life? Arguably just as necessary for survival.

A good amount of sleep is one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself, both mentally and physically. It sucks that it takes up 6-8 hours of your precious time but it's quality not quantity (and if you're interested in any kind of quantity you should sleep more; lack of sleep leads to a myriad of health problems that will pretty much guarantee you'll die younger).

I also hate it when I couldn't sleep while in the bed.

But many years ago I just decided not to get upset because that wouldn't help and it would just get my mind going and keep me awake even longer. So when I have one of those nights I just tell myself that my body is resting and I'll be fine. I also try to try to relax my toes one at a time and then work up my way up to the ankle. I never get past the ankle.

Man, you ain't even got a light shower going on over there. Wait till you throw a couple kids into the mix. Losing a couple toys won't seem that bad. Chipping teeth will still hurt though.

If I can't fall asleep at night it's usually cause I have a stupid, cartoon theme song going through my head. The freakin' Jetsons or Top Cat. Something pretty upbeat.

You'll find they get bigger and more $$$$ as you get older.
You get $600, something breaks worth $600.
That's part of life. The 2-channel is the solution.
About an hour just before bedtime makes all that crap go away.
It's better than a sleeping pill.

egh, I know its not terrible, but all that stuff isn't just toys to me. the motorcycle is my main source of transportation since it gets 3x the gas mileage my truck does and the laptop has a lot of my school/work information on it.

Just sucks that I'm trying to save as much money as I can for a down payment and now I'm throwing away $500.

Just started reading a book and I was able to get some shut eye shortly after.

Not being able to go to sleep is just another great excuse to get up and drink more beer.

Cheesey sci-fi or horror "B" movie, the more hokey it is the better = awesome sleep.

Tip: Check Bankrate.com for mortage broker companies. Bev & I have had great success with Hartland Mortgage. We did 1 re-fi, and 2 new mortgages thru them, all went seamlessly. Stay the hell away from ARM's; if you can't afford a fixed rate loan, you need to look at less home.

Thanks, if my lender keeps taking his precious time, we might go that route. We were thinking about getting a 7/1ARM as we only plan to stay in this place for 4-5 years, but we'll see.

I can't sleep. I have been up since 4am. It sucks. I'm tired 2. I went to bed at 11pm and woke up at 4. I have to go to work at 730am. So here I am surfing the forum trying to tire myself out.

    Damn I hate it.

Hey man I would give anything to have my little boy with me at all times. My ex fiance is not letting me see him at all. Having kids isn't something to complain about, the cartoons they watch are just a blessing that you get to spend time with them. I'd give anything to be able to have a certain cartoon going through my head all the time. People who have their kids living with them don't stop to realize how sweet life is with their kids living with them.

I went through a similar problem with the X. I know its hard to say, but don't fight with her. Soon she will want you to take the kids. Keep your nose clen, and your mouth shut;) Trust me it works.

Hey don't taunt the messenger man. Every study that's ever been done on the subject shows that people who sleep less are less healthy, less happy, less mentally effective. If you want to pull the **** tough guy act, puff out your chest and pretend you're a big man cuz you don't need as much sleep as the rest of us weak humans, be my guest. But don't be surprised when your blood pressure is through the roof by the time you're 35, or when you spend a decade in jail for vehicular manslaughter because you fell asleep at the wheel and drove through a bus stop full of kids.

Or, if your alter ego flies around the country setting up Fight Clubs and promoting an anarchistic society. Either one.
