Does LCD have zero radiations, my eyes are affected!

LCD monitor: Safety Criteria and Standards?

It is not safe to use computer monitor of plasma or CRT because of radiation. I need an LCD monitor which meets safety standards because I know some kinds of LCD do not have radiation. I tried an LCD but felt of pain in eyes. I tried another one but felt of desire to shed tears. Friends complained of LCD of LG and BENQ. I had an old LCD which I have been using for 3 years without problems. Its brand or kind is 7005L-TD which is excellent. That one does not exist in the market for the time being. I need to buy a new safe LCD monitor. How do I know that an LCD monitor has zero radiation and has zero frequency and has zero magnetic fields EMF. In other words, what is the evidence that an LCD meets safety criteria? How do I check based on science before I buy an LCD? I do not want an answer which asks me to contact the company. I do not trust manufacturers. I need proof from science and practical measurement and proof for safety standards.

If LCD causes you issues, how in the hell did you ever use a CRT computer monitor or watch a CRT tube TV?

LCD is much less radiation than any previous technology, but you could always try something like this.......http://www.blockemf.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=752
HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

    2 Channel Thorens TD 318 Grado ZF1, SACD/CD Marantz 8260, Soundstream/Krell DAC1, Audio Mirror PP1, Odyssey Stratos, ADS L-1290, ICs-DIY Twisted , Speaker-Raymond Cable

    Hello,

I stay in front of computer screen less than half a meter. In cases, of TV, I stay three meters at least.
    What do you think?
I used two kinds of LCD, one is perfect, the other is very very bad and I threw away the second one and I am looking to buy a safe LCD.

Perhaps the refesh rate is part of your issue? Maybe you're sensitive to certain refesh rates?

In my experience, with CRTs the refresh rate is what caused most people's eye and headaches. By default the rate is 60Hz. Some could percieve the flicker and it would cause an eye or headache. In some cases this was only an issue when another device was nearby that was causing another 60Hz signal to "bleed' into the video signal of the monitor, such as a flouresant light above a monitor at a typcialcubicle, or an AC adapter near the monitor. Increasing the refresh rate to 75 or 85 usually made both the flicker and the discomfort go away. Oh and removal of the external AC source helps as well.

I am not sure about LCD panels, I am not sure if you can change their rate-I think its built in. Mine does let me select between 60 and 75, but I am not sure if that really does anythign-In the past the option was never offered.

I recently heard some claims that the new 120Hz LCD TVs are causing some people discomfort. Not sure how valid the calims are but perhaps since they are a multiple of the 60Hz...?

Or perhaps its just the brightness/contrast settings. I doubt there is much if any radiation outside of photon radiation.

This talk of CRTs and radiation reminds me of an old Simpsons episode where Homer ponders his childhood and the scene shows the radiation blast marks on the wall behind where he sat so close to the TV.

    Hello,

I think the refresh rate makes sense because my old comfortable LCD has a refresh rate of 60Hz.
It is not a matter of brightness/contrast for sure.
Are there are any other factors involved?

Pardon me if I am wrong but I see a link to some sort of tin foil hat to protect you from radiating beams from an LCD in the future.

    Hello,

You guys (EarlyB and Ben) are too funny. I'm being serious. Reading your comments is more entertaining than watching any ol' T.V. show.

So, Early I'm going to give you a vote for Prez. for your humor. Ben if you were in the running I'd be giving you a vote too. Keep it up!

Reading the second forum thread ties into this one and explains things better.

It's pretty clear that using a computer for 15 hours a day *and* not using it at its native resolution is guaranteed to screw with your head.

My favorite line, not for the humor, was Myimad's own:

"Assuming my eyes are abnormal, why I use my LCD of 7005L-TD for 15 hours a day without problems????" That's the sales pitch, if there is one, with the product contained neatly therein. Doesn't seem particularly convincing/persuasive put this way though. I mean I'm not going to run out and look for a 7005L-TD or anything.

And if you go back to his original post on this thread he says: "Its brand or kind is 7005L-TD which is excellent." Seems like a dead giveaway to me.

Hmm, if it didn't emit any radiation, how would you ever see if it was on?

Definately Chinese. I followed the links provided by Ben and they went to Chinese-language websites.

That said, I'm still baffled by the approach: Here's my question. Oh, you don't have an solution for this problem, well why you try this monitor. Can't see that being too effective. If you follow the first link, it takes you to Cocyber. I happen to read Chinese and this is basically a Chinese discussion board on Chinese electronics. At the top of the CoCyber page, the line may be translated as "looking for friends to discuss things with, looking to ask people questions, please search Cocyber (followed by keyword search box)." Not sure how Ben found this, but perhaps Myimad is also posting his "questions" on Chinese-language forums.

This happens alot. Say someone wants to hawk their wares on a site like this, but wants it to look legit. They create two usernames, one A one B. A asks a question, like are there any LCDs that have zero radition. Then when no one can find one that fits A's needs then B comes along to save the day. Wait 1 week and then A starts spewing on about how good of a product B recommended.

It takes very little time to setup a couple accounts and make a few posts, especially if you copy paste them among many forums. Some naive readers may think it is legit and buy the product as a result of the praise.
