Need Advice and Suggestions for SR6500 Install

Hi,

I am new to Club Polk and need a bit of help. I am not very knowledgeable about car audio.

I was given some brand new Polk SR6500 in the box last year as a gift and I need to figure out what car to buy for them. :) They're just sitting in the back room in the box begging to be used.

Right now I have a 1998 Ford Escort with over 200k on it, so I am in need of a new car soon. I looked to see if they would fit in the car I have and they won't without some work.

I have a Alpine CDA-7995 as a head unit and a Alpine MRV-F540 for an amp.

I am not looking for any complex system, just the HU and the amp with these speakers.

My question is what car would the speakers be easiest to install and sound good. My main parameters would be a smaller car that is good on gas.

What would be a good car of that type to install these speakers in? I would likely install myself, so I don't want to do something elaborate just to get them to fit.

I was thinking of a Ford Focus or a Honda Fit. Could those work in these two cars?

What would be a good car of that type to install these speakers in? I would likely install myself, so I don't want to do something elaborate just to get them to fit.

Thanks in advance!!!

Basing the purchase of a car on the speakers you have is borderline insane.

Yup, but if I can do it, I want to. :)

I am not disregarding any other factors in buying a car, but I would like to know what my choices are to start. If I can't find a new car that these are fairly easy to install within my parameters, then I would have to give my gift back to the giver as I would not feel comfortable selling a gift.

I am hoping there are people here that have installed these in smaller cars and that I would be able to benefit from their experiences.

if u want something good on gas... go with a corolla or a civic (maybe even a fit). Speakers will fit into all 3 of those... with a little modification. for my MOMOs which i think a few peeps mentioned they had a larger basket.... i had to trim a little of the door... but it was like 2 mins of work. just scary cutting a car thats less than a week old.

Nissan Altima is the easiest to install. The doors take 6.5" speakers and wont require any cutting and there is room in either the dash or the A pillars for the tweeters. Also the kick panels are large and flat and dont have any fuse blocks or other crap to get in the way should you ever want to mount speakers there. Best of all, the Altima is a great car.

I have been doing some car research and I am leaning towards the 2009 Honda Fit. I won't be buying a car until this fall so I am hoping to snag a 2009 model of something.

I like the Fit because of the space along with the gas mileage. It got great ratings too. I am a competitive archer and travel many tournaments all over the country. The Fit has room for all my archery equipment. I am also big into fly fishing and I will have room for that too.

I don't like the fact I may have to buy it with the stock stereo system. That is the first thing going out I believe. :D

I have until September or so and I will keep doing research.

Thanks for the help so far! I really like the looks of the Altima, but it isn't going to be my first choice. If I didn't need space for bow cases, flyrods etc., then I would be digging it. :)

The Scion Xb is the best SQ platform for a car. It has 3" mids in the dash, tweeters in the A pillars and 6.5" mids in the doors STOCK! Plus, the windshield is flat as opposed to curved back toward you and the roof seems like its 10' tall. You put some quality gear in these stock speaker locations and youll sound very good right out of the box! But the trade off is you have to drive around town in an Xb.

    Ummm. OK.

Toyotas will run forever. The Xb is still the ugliest thing on the road and sucks to drive with its whole 1.3 liter engine.

Ya got me on that one. The Aztec was pretty gnarly looking.

And I wasnt aware they finally put a decent engine in the xB's. Last year they had a wimpy 1.8 liter or something ridiculous like that. That does help.

hey what's wrong with a 1.3L. I love mine cause its got 200rwhp. Just wish my radio was easier to work with. Damn you mazda and your horrible radio. Though it does have 6x8 and 6x9 stock speakers with a tweeter in the a pillars.

I agree with the Altima guy up top. The consumer reports mag I had said that the Inline-4 one was the top rated sedan under $25K and the V6 was the top rated sedan under $30K. This included the new malibu and accord. And on the plus side, drop in speakers on the 6.5s in the door already.
I could get a good look at a T-Bone by sticking my head up a bull's ****, but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.
