Bad luck with Toshiba...

So last night I sat down to watch The Golden Compass, and when I turn my tv on and get the movie going, I notice some back light bleeding out of the top left and right corners of my tv. So today I brought it back to Ultimate Electronics and they exchanged it for me. Well I get home and start up Resident Evil: Extinction, and what do I see? Back light bleeding right out of the box. This time only in the top right corner. I am going back tomorrow to see if I can just switch to a different brand and see if my luck changes. I am thinking about getting the Sharp Aquos 46" LCD that they have on sale for $1349. Anyone have experience with this tv(I think it is the LC 46D64U)? Think I will have better luck?

This is usually a fault of the backlight on lcd tv's. There are a few that are better than others, but I haven't sold an lcd that didn't have at least some backlight bleeding.
Have you considered a panasonic plasma or similar?Tschüss

I have the Sharp 46D64U, and for $1349 I would buy it twice. That is a heck of a price.

Right out of the box? The settings from the factory are way too bright. Usually brightness and contrast are both set at 100%. Any LCD will show backlight bleeding at these settings. Did you calibrate the TV at all?

I tried many different settings. I just took it back and went with a 46" Panasonic plasma 1080p tv(46PZ85U).Panasonic VIERA 46" 1080p plasma

Good call. The Sharp TV has banding issues and if you get those they're a lot worst than flash lighting.:DGear: Rotel RC 1082, Rotel RSP 1068 pre/pro, Rotel RMB1077 amp, Cayin CDT 15a CD player, S301 bluray.
Speakers: Tannoy DC sensys speakers, Paradigm Servo15 Sub, Velo Spl-1500r
Conditioner: Isotek
