swaping tweeters experiment

I have been reading with interest the difference between the current model speakers and how speakers that are made mainly with HT in mind like the RTI range are concidered "too harsh" in the top end for 2 channel listening.

Then i put this together with the Vintage owners saying that the SL2000 tweeters were also a bit harsh compared to later models. So when i got my hands on a pair of monitor 5's for my 2 channel set up i thought i may do a little experiment.
I took the sl2000's from the 5's and swaped them with the sl2500 from the Monitor 12's that are the fronts for my HT.

The 5's are alot smoother with the sl2500's and i like the HT with the sl2000's as i often thought the 12's sounded a bit "flat" when watching movies.

I know the new RDO tweeters have a good following around here and i will go down this road too at some stage but for now i am quite happy with my little swaping experiment.:D

Word of warning - if you think the 2500's are to flat sounding, you may not like the RDO's.

I know what your saying but they (the 12's) only sounded a little flat with movies not music. I have only recently got a seperate 2 channel set up going. When i get the RDO's they will be for the 2 channel set up.

    I have listened to sl2000's sl2500's, sl3000, up against the RDO's in my 2.3tl's.
I vote in the RDO's as my Tweeter choice. Not as loud, just as clear and more accurate.

I have not found the RDO's flat, or too laid back at all. I did do the XO upgrade at the same time though.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I would watch out with swapping the SL2500 and the SL2000. They are different tweeters electrically and not made to be in the same circuit.

I forgot to mention, I did not install the sl2000 and the sl2500 into my 2.3tl's. I just swapped the whole speaker (Monitor 10's) I found that the sl2000's were to dull, the sl2500's were better and the sl3000's in my 2.3tl's were to much. The RDO's sound like silk, smooth and calm. My next choice is the sl2500's.
