Larry (analog97) is another good Pittsburg man who came recommended to me from Carl. Carl as you know is some kind of freak, whose only strong points are acting as a reference for noteworthy personnel, and donating heavily/un$elfi$hly to the handicapped.
Larry's got a couple good transactions with me so he's on the good guy list as far as I'm concerned.

Noted as such.
I've got a roll of Charmin that has been deemed as 'The Grand Feedback List'. I thought about using actual **** to write to the names down, but the dogs wouldn't leave it alone.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
That's why they call them dogs.

True.
At least if I ever find myself WITHOUT paper, and WITH dog - I know I'll still have that fresh, clean feeling - and maybe a giggle to boot.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
Rub yourself down from head-to-toe in the shower with that canine and go for the total experience. Brush your teeth with him too. Unless it's a big dog which might be challenging but if it's a small dog he/she should be fairly easy to manipulate.

Thanks George! I was over Larry's last night spinning some Dave Grusin, David Crosby, Eagles and other good stuff on Troy's old VPI. Larry had a great spread of humus, crackers, cheese, salsa and fine wine (no moldy cheese). Dipole Dan also stopped over to enjoy the spectacular sound of his audio setup. Hagerman Tech phono pre, VPI turntable, Polk 1.2TLs. His 20' X 26' listening room has a pool table and a huge rack of vinyl on the wall. I'm always afraid of drinking the wine however in fear that Larry has some radical Josef Mengele inspired medical experiements experiments that he wants to try on a human Guinea pig (me). JK Larry!:D Larry's hosplitality is the best.Carl

The only thing I'll mess with are your ears, Carl. Next time, remind me to spin Mott the Hoople's "Mad Shadows". PS: enjoy the Gilmour DVD.....that sucka is still my favorite live rock DVD.:D -
Larry is, indeed, a stellar guy. Glad you guys are enjoyed the VPI!

Thanks Troy,
I've probably got a hundred hours or so on it now and my final verdict on the VPI MK-IV w/TNT/SAMA is: OUTSTANDING!! I would love to compare it to a standard Scout or your tricked-out Scoutmaster. But, that's not likely to happen. Doing a head-head comparison is the only way to fly, because you gotta hear them both in the same rig. Now that you've had the opportunity to do so, what improvements, if any does your Scoutmaster render above the MK-IV? Thanks again, Larry.......PS: my worst nightmare is if you say "i gotta get that same table back!!":D:D -
Larry,
The big difference, IMO, is that the Scoutmaster is a little more on the neutral side (as I find that suspension tables tend to have a pleasant warm, ripe sound to them and the treble is a little more refined and extended. Little more detail, little more depth.
One area that I do think the HW-19 was better was the bass weight and impact. The Scoutmaster, again, has better definition but I think the bass on the HW-19 was to die for.
