Polk subs
How are the Polk subs. I keep hereing that polk falls short in the sub category. I think the DSW Pro series look like nice subs, but do these fall short as well?

I have a DSW pro 500 and for my room size its more than enough. I listened to many other subs in that price range and the polk won hands down.TV: Philips 42" LCD 1080p

I have had a few subs from mirage, Athena, Canton, kef, and I am currently using a Polk PSW111, and it sounds just as good, if not better then the other ones in this price range. Not sure why Polk subs get a bad rap. The pro series are getting good reviews.

I just listened to the Pro series at Tweeter, and they do sound pretty good. I also looked at a ML Dynamo, that things pretty nice too.

I too have a DSW500. I like it well enough. For the price range, it's a decent piece of equipment. I happened to get it on sale, so I'm happy with the value.
I can only speak from my limited personal experience listening to subs at stores or friends houses. There are better subs out there, and it seems that for the most part - you get what you pay for. A relative has a Sunfire sub, which has more punch / less boomy than the DSW500. The Sunfire also has a 2700 watt amp in it, and costs a heck of a lot more than my Polk. The Sunfire is a better sounding sub to my ears; but, I can't justify the cost, thus I have the DSW500.
I am interested to hear the new DSW MicroPro Series.
There are a lot of subwoofers out there to choose from. The problem is, many are internet only, and you'll have to go through a lot of time and bother to find one that you're happy with.
So, the DSW500 doesn't "fall short". I prefer the Sunfire, but the Polk is good enough for me. If cost was no object, I might have the Sunfire or something else - possibly even one of the new DSW MicroPro Series.
