I was listening to some music late last night and was shocked at how good it sounded. It was one of those rare and surreal moments when a recent upgrade has been introduced and your system sounds better than you anticipated. One of my favorite CDs, in particular, sounded entirely different -- the fullness and clarity was astounding. Gotta luv it.

No, I'm not done yet. I want a two-channel amp for that last 1.5% of tonal accuracy, then I'll be done (along with Solidsqual, Ricardo, and Pearsall001;)).

Hey Early, glad to hear you can still get a 2 channel system together on the other side of the world. This'll be like AA "Audioholics Anonymous." Each time you fall off the wagon and buy new gear, we'll be hear to cheer you on . . . ahem, I mean provide support.

Yeah, it's that good. It's a beefier sound than the TVC, probably due to larger transformers.

Nope. Although I wanted c-core, it was beyond my budget.

If you don't mind my asking Brad, what was the damage on that unit? Reasonable?

No damage. I misunderstood Nic's instructions and connected the wires wrong. He had to draw me a picture. It took two minutes of soldering a couple of wires to totally remove the hum.

LOL, I believe by damage he meant price.

Oh, yeah, it was very reasonable. Some of you guys have ICs that cost more.

Me, done! Hah I say!! :D Hell I just picked up a rare, vintage Nikko Alpha VI amp (manuf date 3/80, 300w & true dual mono). This thing is a true beast & I'm in the middle of A/B testing with my Krell. It's absolutely gorgeous & a collector's wet dream. Maybe I'll call it quits after this episode!!

    Pics, please.

I'm very interested in hearing your impressions of the Nikko vs. the Krell.

Ah Early, this amp is stunning to say the least. I took it to Stephen's shop today (Quest for Sound) & he was speechless in it's performance & eye candy appeal. He even said it would be a great matchup for the Krell & wouldn't be surprised if I bring the Krell in for him to sell for me. Time will tell!!

A lot of guys over on Audiokarma (vintage forum) are jealous as hell in my find & they tell me don't dare resell it, but to use it in my system. Apparentlty it's a rare piece & hard to beat for it's performance. I'm diggin it so far!! :D

As far as pics go, I still haven't figured out how to master that yet. Sorry.

Yeah, a little much for me to, like 2x the price of a ref one. Congrats on the purchase, I am glad you got the TVC sound without the gain issues.
