Vintage AM/FM Stereo tuner

Finally putting the final touches on our excersize room. I have a perfect Yamaha CA-800 integrated amp that needs a crappy old tuner to look it's best. These will be pared with my Monitor 7's. CD player could also be needed.

Budget? Cheap, this ain't critical listening on a treadmill. Any good listening would come from the CD player, or XM tuner. Anyone that's been to Houston knows our FM stations suck.

The wooden cabinet on the Yamaha is pristine and will really be the show-piece of this system.

    Dave,

I have a vintage Marantz Model 104 with a beautiful wooden cabinet. I th that I paid $100 for just the cabinet. I replace a few light bulbs, it works great with a dipole. Like all 30 vintage tuners, it could use a $25 tuner alignment. But maybe not since you live in a high density area.. I'll sell it for $125 delivered.

Dave, why do you even post without calling me first?

Tube Sherwoods over here that will make you **** your flat hat. That is, if clean undercrackers aren't a high priority to you.
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

Just give me a buzz on your next swim through town, I'll put a mono Sherwood up against whatever stereo tuna I have (or you bring), and we'll see which sounds better.

Fair enough? The TWO left that I have are MPX, with multiplex outputs if you feel the need to go that route. One has the original box, the other belongs in a museam (and wouldn't be offered to sale to just anyone....DAVE).

When have I ever let you down Dave? ;)

You haven't yet! LS-90s, Monitor 7's, Altec Lansing Coronas (sweeeet), KLH 20s, SVS sub, Polk sub, I must forget a few things... Absolutely everything in PRISTINE condition for it's age!

For this rig, I am going to grab Carl's Marantz and mate it with the Yamadog. Given the museum quality wood cases this will make a damn nice combination.

I will grab a tube tuner from you to mate with a not-yet-determined pre-amp for my home office. I have the HK amp (you sold me) and the CRS+s (that you passed on for me) and my Polk XM tuner waiting to complete that rig. I picked up an adcom tuner I haven't even taken out of the box...it just doesn't excite me, but I low-balled a bid and won... Maybe I need to post a wanted add for a pre-amp with tone controls, remote, and subwoofer outs?

    Tone controls?

Are you hitting the sauce again Dave?

By the way, both Sherwoods feature variable output, so you can go ahead and start listening to FM with these hooked directly to that HK and those CRS+. I'll find a preamp for you later. You know the paypal addy. I'll do a personal check, as long as it's not like the last one with the embossed image of you squeezing you **** like a water balloon.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Okay, tone controls out, loudness contour in? I may only be in the lower 50%, but I like the low volume mid/bass-boost.

I know the paypal addy, but I don't know how much to send? I think I have about 600 dollars in there, but I am not sure you want that much, do you?

[Edit] I forgot buying the tube buffer, the Phase Techs, the EV sub, and more than a couple hunks of vinyl. BTW, If I had to rate the purchases, the LS90s and the Altec Lansing are at the top. Extremely surprised by the Coronas, they really sound GREAT with a Kenwood receiver that MHardy sent my way. Thanks again Mark and Russ, those jewels are proudly displayed in my office at work! It's fun to get questions from my staff who sometimes are 10 or 20 years younger than this fine, reliable gear.

Don't burn it, karma it. Then you can give a fellow Polkie the joy of smashing and/or crushing it. Blowing it up would be preferred. Go big though on the detonation - just BOOM, no smoldering afterwards - NO remains, ie 'missing tuna'. (fire scares me)

Oh, Dave, take another drink, make it a double, neat.

    Ready?

Your paypal balance should just about cover it, with the tax, extended warranties, etc. No problems there. I don't want to quivel over nickles and dimes here, there's no reason. ;)

Like I said, I've seen these cabinents go for $100 or more, this cainet is exceptional. radio does real well in and urban area. I don't think it's ever been touched. I replace a few lights. It plays great with just a dipole. Let me know Dave. Satisfaction guaranteed.
