Hello all. i am posting to ask about the polk cs2 center and the Mon 40 speakers. I am looking to maybe upgrade my sound a little, but as of yet undecided. I have a pioneer vsx 1016 7.1 as my receiver, which I like, and the sat set of the rm6700, I believe. I was thinking of upgrading just my front, which my center to the cs1 or cs2, and the front left and right to the mon 40s, and moving my current left and right rm6700s to a 6 and 7 speaker. Are the 40s and the cs2 nice, and will they make a pretty good diff in sound/clarity over what I have, from anyone's experience? I do not have a lot to spend, and not sure I will spend any, but I could get the 3 i have spoken of for like 300 or not much over total if i buy soon. Thanks in advance for any feedback

Before you decide, go to Circuit City and listen to them. If they make you smile then go for it. There is always better speakers to upgrade to and for me it boils down to whether I'm happy with my current ones. Is there something that you are not happy with your current speakers?
I've never heard the RM's, so I can't offer my experience with that. -
Not reall;y anything wrong, I like what I have, moreso than the infinities they replaced a few years ago. Some friends have def bigger and nicer speakers, and seems I hear more slight events in movies, but of course, that could be room dynamics and so forth

Sorry, typed that last one in a hurry. I guess part of it is the grass is greener mentality, part is hearing slightly more in friends with similar speakers to the ones I named. I was eyeing polk's store on ebay also. They have a pair of mon 70s for 290 some or so, refurbished, I believe. They may tear my place down, though, since my place is not big to begin with, and my tv room is not big really, just has a lot of open space since it goes in the kitchen on one side. I had thought of upgrading just the front l and r, or the center, bt if I do one, I will do all 3, i believe, but not the rears or the sub. My sub is a psw12, if i did not say, that, while I have heard diff brands that rock more, for my space, and for call of duty 4 and my dvds, it rocks well enough.

The 70's need plenty of room to sound their best, as any floorstander does. If your room is small then I'd stick with the 30's or 40's. But if you will be moving in the future to a bigger place, then go for the 70's just because that is such a good deal.
Now if you want a reallly BIG improvement in sound quality, save up and jump into the Rti or RtiA line. -
I just bought a CS2 (which hasn't arrived yet) so I can't tell you how that sounds yet, but I've had a pair of Monitor 40s for 8 months and I love them. They sound so much better than my old Sony floorstanding speakers. If you have a good size subwoofer than you'll be fine with the Monitor 40s. Good luck.
