hello all - I have a couple of questions

equipment is as follows
lsi25 mains
lsi9 rears
lsic center
yamaha rxv661 driving the rears and the center
cambridge audio dvd89 for sacd and dvd-a
niles 2125 driving the 25's from the rxv661 pre outs

Q#1. I have the 25's hooked up from a subwoofer splitter cable from the yamaha and then from the yamaha pre outs through the niles amp to the speaker hook ups. I have the jumpers removed in this set up - Is this correct?

Q#2. I have the annalog multichanel hooked up from the cambridge audio payer. do I need to run annalog from the rxv661's pre outs to sepperate amps to the center and surrounds to get the multichane - or should the reciever take care of this?

thanks

1.) No, if I understand that correctly you should be leaving the jumpers in. The only time you would want to remove the jumpers is if you are powering the top posts (the highs / tweeter) with one amplifier and the bottom posts (mids / woofers) with a second amplifier. That would be bi-amping. Or if you were running two sets of wire from one amplifier -- bi-wiring.

2.) Analog multichannel as in you have 6 rca's running to your receiver - one for each channel? Then no, the receiver should take care of that if you are powering the center & surrounds by the receiver.

    Lumpy,
Your speakers are do-able that way. The mid-woofers are cut off at 80HZ, so as long as you have your receiver sub crossover set at 80 HZ or above you will be ok.
You should consider a seperate amp to run the mains, center, and surrounds. From what I read most receivers don't have the power to run 4 ohms loads efficiently. My Yamaha rx-v2500 claims 6 ohm or 8 ohm speakers are compatible, not 4 ohm. It will possibly overheat with 4 ohm speakers, which mine sort of did before I got the Rotel.
I have a Rotel amp running the mains, center, and surrounds. The subs on my LSi25s are connected to the speaker A on the Yamaha receiver. I have the receiver set to "both" to get low frequency to both the LSi25s and my SVS sub, which I have crossed over at 60HZ. This setting works fine for me. I don't want to y split the pre outs to the amp and speakers. You loose around -3db or more from what I've read. Yamaha stays much cooler just running the LSI25 subs this way. Hope this helps. Email me if you have any more questions.

thanks for the response - I do intend to get sepperate amps for the center and surrounds. The niles audio amp is rated for 200 wpc into 4 ohms for the mains.

How would I be loosing the 3db with the y splitter from the sub out from the rxv661 since the lsi25's have the internal amps for the subs

I would also like to get a good sub for ultra low end, but I wouldn't want it to cancel out anything from the 25's. Any suggestions?
