This is a break away from another thead i had.
A pair of mint cond RTA11's are available with the orig packing boxes.
The guy said they have white tweeters so i'd say they are the first series with the sl2000's. Haven't seen them yet.
I know from regular visits here that the RTA series have the reputation of the best sounding NON SDA speaker Polk made.
So what do you guys think?
Should i go for the SADA2's(yes the guy has the sda cable) or the RTA11's.
Asking Prices are $500.00 aus for the sda's & $750 aus for the rta's.
I know that sound alot for what they are going for in the states but you have to remember that back when these were new $1 australian was worth 50 US cents. So both these were over $3,000.00 new.
Cheers

I'm not sure if the RTA was available with the SL1000, but by the description, it's possible. I would avoid those and jump on the SDA's.
Would you happen to know if they're SDA 2A's or 2B's?"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
Not yet. Havn't seen them in the flesh.
I think when he said the tweeters were white he was talking about the outside ring of the tweeter like the sl2000.
Has any bone listen to both models?

I had the RTA 11TL's followed right after by SDA 2A's. I enjoyed my 11's quite a bit, they are a very nice speaker. But if I had to choose between the two, I'd definitely take the SDA, and they're cheaper to boot!"The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage." Thucydides

SDA'sPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

2B's over the 11T's. The 11T's are a very good conventional speaker and they are about the size of RTi 10's or RTiA 7's which conforms more with the HT tower design.I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

SDA 2a vs RTA11, I take the RTA11.
SDA 2b vs RTA11, I take the SDA 2b.

Both are nearly the same minus the pin blade, and blade blade XO's. The original SDA2 with the dimesional tweeter, and extra bass woofer needs just a little help to bring it up to par.

I think 2a, I think dimensional tweeter and extra woofer. Not to mention shotty cabinets. Correct 100% or not (with all the Polk half breeds running around) - THAT is a 2a to me. A 2b has the single tweeter, 2 woofs, 1 stereo, 1 dimensional, 12 inch pr, and no particle board 'plinth' (yuk).Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

Yeah I had the 3 woofer two tweeter model with moisture damaged cabs, three woofer, and dimensional tweeters. Yuk. I did mod it by removing the dim from the array, modding the XO so the stereo tweet could keep up, but I would not jump on the dim tweeter SDA's either.Please. I have both. 2B with the TL mod and the RTA 11T with the RDO's. 2B's are the winner hands down but the 11T is still a great conventional speaker. It images very well and I have heard deeper bass from the 11T's. I think the 11T is a bit more efficient than the 2B's. I may just take advantage of the Sonicap discount and redo the Xovers for the hell of it.
I think both are keepers.

Thanks for the feedback people.
I have long had the dream of one day owning a pair of SDA-SRS but as you can imagin they were way out of my legue money wise. So this may be my best chance to finaly have a SDA experience.
Ive had my monitor 12s from new and i suppose the RTA11 may be a step sideways compared to the SDA's.2 Channel

The SDA-SRS need quite a bit of room to breath. As you stated the RTA11's would be more of a lateral move from the Monitor 12's. Better than 12's, but not leaps, and bounds.

I asked this a while back and the answer was SDA 2 (I think it was 2Bs) without question. Already had 11Ts at that point. Despite being an excellent speaker, the 11T is worth less on the used market than an SDA. It's sort of a vertical Monitor (the original ones were called Monitor 11T before the RTA name was introduced.)
I decided to wait until I could go bigger, and eventually ended up going biggest (SRS 1.2TL.) They're a poor fit for the room, but I plan on sticking with the speakers a lot longer than my current living accomodations. Sanity is highly overrated when it comes to audio purchases. -
I think he is looking at SDA2b's or at least from the pick in his other thread it only has one tweeter and two mids not three.
I say SDA's any day of the week. -
FWIW, when I said SDA 2a I was talking about Single tweet/2 woof blade-blade model. Never heard the original SDA 2 so can't comment on that. I agreee with scott, the 11T is a more efficent speaker."The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage." Thucydides

Eventually, the Ebay supply of SDA-pulled-out-of-grandpa's-garage will start to dry up...particularly outside of the U.S. Get on board now. In 20 years, you'll thank yourselfParty On

+1 and the RTA 11 never had the sl1000 as standard issue.
Despite the exchange rate that's a lot of dough, IMO.
