If you're a Direct TV customer, they have a small HD package available for $4.99/month (HD Extra Pack) that you can add to your current HD lineup. It includes:

-HDNet Movies
-MGM HD
-MHD (Music HD)
-Smithsonian HD
-Universal HD

You can search the web on any of these to see the programming schedules.

Those ****. They want you to pay extra for additional HD channels???

I have Comcast. They recently added a few more of 'em. No charge.

That was my first immediate impression, however, these appear to be commercial free, uncut type channels---think HBO Lite. Check the programming--all look very promising, sans "Universal", and for a buck-a-channel/month--that ain't bad. I like this approach far better than a 30 channel package that's $12.99/month and only has 2 channels I want to see.

These channels USED to be included with the regular HD pack. Then Directv got greedy and they changed the terms to HD access. Now, the basic HD "access fee" covers any HD channel that has a corresponding SD channel. These 5 extra pack channels are the ones that do not have a corresponding SD channel. Its BS really. In fact HDNet sued Directv over this issue because their original contract said that they would be carried with any base HD package.

BTW, Universal HD and MHD are not commercial free nor unedited.
See profile for rigs. Nothing else here.

When I signed up with DTV back in Dec. those 5 channels where included in the HD package, I believe about the end of Jan. first of Feb. DTV took them off and made them only avaliable in a separate package for those 5 channels. I was pretty PO'ed about it at first but they have added some pretty good HD channels to there HD package to replace them so now I'm not too upset about it.
