I just snagged a GM position with a Nissan lot if anyone needs help or info on their superb products, just let me know.

The Rogue and all new 2009 Murano are kick ****. The Altima sells itself.
I drove both. They both are nice but you can't get cloth seats with the roof option on the Murano. That sucks ****. I had mine pretty loaded but some packages only come with leather seats. I like the black cloth interior much better. I go mountain biking alot during the year except winter so Leather has no place for me. No tow Hitch on it, I would have to have the service center Install it. They wanted to add a sun roof aftermarket but I wasn't into it.
Have you seen a aftermarket sunroof cut into a Murano? The cool **** glass roof in it I would not get meaning the back. Just a regular front powered sunroof. I thought that sucked.

The transmission is wierd feeling. No shifts. Good power like my Pathfinder.

My daughter has the Hyundai Santa Fe Limited. They came for a visit and we took a 12 hr road trip. I was very impressed, both riding in the back seat and driving. I would get one in a second if I was in the market for an SUV.

What I want to achieve is find something close to or as versitile as my Pathfinder that gets alittle better gas milage plus lower my monthly payments.

Be careful of playing the payment game. Car salesmens will eat your lunch if all you look at is the monthly payment.

I have no idea what your current situation is, but in most cases, buying a new car does not help one's financial position at all. Especially if the mileage difference is relatively small.

Check out volvo xc70 wagons. You can get one off lease for low to mid 20's. I get 23 to 25 mpg with mine and that is often loaded down with tools for work or mtb's.

215 hp awd, it has a real frame to attach the hitch to, drives better than any suv you can find, better fuel economy than a crv or honda element and about 70 more hp. The seats fold down in the back providing a lot of room, the front passenger seat folds down flat and tucks under the dash so you can even load it up with 8' lumber and still close the hatch, more room than a short bed pu:cool:

I love mine and have about 70,000 miles on it and all I have done is change the oil and put brake pads on it, my brother has 175,000 on his and all he has done is timing belt and oil, tires and brake pads.

check em out, beats a tanky suv any day

Have you looked into the Toyota Highlanders? My wifes has the fold-a-way third row seating, the rear seats slide back and forth for more leg room plus recline, 4 wheel drive, and power everything. Couldn't ask for a better vehicle with kids in my opinion. You can also get the Hybrid Edition, worth a look if you haven't already.

My family has a 05 version. We get 20 gal. if we don't speed. And with a U-Haul tow hitch we can tow 3500... We have a V6 with 4wheel drive, not a hybrid.

Although I'm pretty sure your Pathfinder can do 5000.

My mom owns a 2005 Highlander but I get to drive it all the time. Second the recommendation from Grimster.

Definitely check out the Hyundai Santa Fe....especially with the rebates they're giving right now.

I love my GMC Acadia. It is getting 16 city and 24 highway. Has the same interior room as the Tahoe, more cargo and drives great. It handles like a car and is very quiet. I have captain's chairs second row and 2 sunroofs. The 2009 have direct injection and bluetooth. $34k will buy a nice sle with all of the features you asked for. I have an SLT1 with lesther, 19" wheel, heads-up display, Bose (i know, but its decent for a factory sys) 5.1 system and it was under $40k

Nothing before the gas prices went up. I love my Pathfinder. The Pathfinder was 34 or 35k somewhere around there I paid for it. I'm looking for something close to 30k. I get 15 to 21 mpg I would love to get something like 17 to 24 or better.

Other then that my Pathfinder is awesome. I also don't need a 3rd row of seats. The truck is a bit to big. One of the reasons I checked out the Rouge. But that thing is a bit to small.

Look at a Jeep Grand Cherokee. There is a diesel model that is in that fuel economy range. It came out before the split with Diamler, so it as a Benz engineered diesel.

    I hate car shopping.

I looked at the Mazda cx7 or cr7 and it's ok but no 2 inch hitch. it would have to be custom installed. It's ok but I don't know if I even like it batter then my pathfinder. The Subaru's are nice but same a the Mazda. I think they are ok, I like the all wheel drive and the safety ratings. Impressive there. But I don't know. I'm not feeling it.

The Ford Edge is next up. I want to dig into it. So far out of all the new suv's I checked out, the Morano is still the nicest but not fitting my needs one out there. I would have to get leather interior to get a roof option which completely sucks and it runs the price deep into the 30's like 37k.

I haven't looked at diesel prices where I live, but being on the road I kept noticing that diesel prices are almost $1 more per gallon, so the gains in mileage would have to be amazing for me to pay for that one........

I have worked on a couple Volvo's and I can say that they are built like a tank hands down one of the best I have worked on. I have been looking at the C30/40 for the wife but for you the V50 looks like it would fit right in there for ya. It is more of a wagon style but is really sharp and has the fetures you are looking for in your price/mpg range also. The really really nice feature of these I feel you would fall in love with is the optional 12 speaker Dynaudio sound system :D you can have installed and still be in the price range you are looking at.
Volvo's have been kinda boxy in the past but their new styling is really really nice and their build quality has not been altered on bit.
Have a look and let me know what ya think.
