Maybe there's something up with my computer but I can't access this site for nothing in the world. I was wanting to know a certain question also. Maybe u guys can help me. I was wanting to know what header/cat-back exhaust combo is better on a 2000 SS? SLP Headers or The Other Guy Headers with a DynoMax Super Turbo Cat-Back Exhaust, Borla Cat-Back Exhaust, or SLP Cat-Back Exhaust. I know that'll sound NOTHING like a V8 but I'm just wanting some smooth flows with a little good sounding noise.

I switched to Borla and got away from Flowmaster and will never look back. Sounds better and I believe it flows better. I noticed a good difference in low end torque even before I went to headers.

I like the sound of Borla on Chevy motors.

Well I wouldn't even consider Flows on anything less than 8 cylinders anyway. Heard 'em. Sounds like hell. I was honestly pretty set on the Borla exhaust but was just wondering how SLP headers sounded and what the TOG headers more expensive. I've heard the SLP exhaust on a Grand Prix and didn't like the sound. It was too loud. It was too "rice burner" loud IMO.

    FWIW,

I have a Borla on my VR6 GTi and it sounds really really good. I've had Flomax and Dynomax before and the Borla has a "beefier" tone. Every motor is different so I'd do some research.

Borla, Dynomax, and SLP(the larger mufflers) all will sound OK on your 3800. Believe it or not, headers, especially without a cat, will make it sound like ****. IMO, the best sounding 3800's are those with a big turbo.

Or you can just get stupid and do this. :D

I talked to a guy from www.3800performance.com today and he said the best combo is gonna be the The Other Guy Headers with a Corsa cat-back exhaust. I couldn't find any on a Monte Carlo but I heard Corsa on a Vette and a Mustang and it sounds awesome! I didn't think anything beat Borla's sound but I think Corsa does! Anybody know about Corsa exhaust?

:confused:Dude, you are asking questions about the exhaust configuration about a Monte on an audio forum. If someone give you advise, specifically from the 3800 forum, that would be the right place to ask more questions or find out more from someone over there that has one.

FYI, you can also see about the local clubs in your area, and go listen for yourself on the various configs first hand.

I've never heard Corsa on a V6, but on a V8, it makes them sound too high pitched.

Really? It's just an odd place to be asking for such information, when there are more suitable forums. I was actually helping him out, so much for your post.

Look I was just making conversation. OK? This is The Clubhouse, where you can talk about anything. Yeah I was asking questions, but I wasn't seeking hardcore guidance. Don't be a dick next time!

Umm, with all your personal issues going on, are you sure you should be spending the $$$$ modding your car? I don't know, but that seems like some whacked out priorities there....

He doesn't even have the car yet, he's waiting for a settlement check (that's what he said in another thread about the same thing).

I vote to take care of your other priorities first (if you haven't already as I don't know you or situation) then worry about buying and modding a car.

I agree with the others, get you **** together first.

But if you MUST get a w-body and MUST mod it, get a older one with the L67, don't even bother with the naturally aspirated version. The rods are weaker, injectors are smaller, and transmission is weaker amongst other things.

What model do u recommend face? I'm looking for a nice comfortable ride. I used to have a 2000 Monte Carlo and I know it was a comfortable ride. What do you suggest then? Something that necessarily doesn't HAVE to be modded out but has the potential if I WANT to.

99 +Regal GS, 99+ Grand Prix GTP, 98-99 Riviera, or the later Monte SS's with the blower.

2000 Grand Prix GTP loaded only have heated seats on the driver side. How hard is it to have one installed on the passenger seat?

Not difficult if you're mechanically inclined. There are a few kits available.

The GS has driver and passenger heated seats if you can deal with the old man styling.

Bit of a useless post but my brother has Corsa exhaust on his.... civic del sol. I hate the sound of pretty much 95% of the civics I've seen with aftermarket exhaust but I love his. It's fairly quiet until about 3500 rpm and then it gets really throaty without the deep weed-eater on steroids sound (yes, I realize part of that is the CAI he has as well). Comparing oranges to apples here, but at least corsa can get it right with one model / make of car with a small engine.
