i im looking to replace my adcom gtp-400 because it has a loose connection somewhere so the phono's right channel. i would trade it plus cash for a better pre with a phono stage.

i would also buy a phono amp for up to $150. im open to other ideas too.

Have you tried opening up the 400 and seeing if you can fix the connection?

Do you know how to, or have interest in learning to, solder? If so, you can't get more bang for the buck then the Hagerman Tech Bugle phono pre amp kit. The circuit board and instructions can be bought through their site for $35, IIRC. You'd need to source your own parts to finish it. Another option is to buy it from a seller on Audiogon with all the parts for approx $65. That's what I chose to do. I learned how to solder adn put the kit together in about 4 hours. I can get you the links if you wish.

not sure how i missed this post.

im sending my preamp in to get worked on but if for some reason that doesn't work out i would be interested in the diy project.
