Tossing around the idea of getting a DAC

I have a combined HT and 2-channel system, which is working out quite well for me. My focus in this system is about 90% music, but it also serves the purpose for watching the occasional movie or playing the XBox 360 with my son.
I have a Denon 3910 universal player as my only CD/DVD source. By many accounts it has an exceptional DAC and great CD abilities. But for my next upgrade (not sure when it's coming exactly, but trying to plan) I'm trying to decide between a dedicated CD player (probably tubed), a stand-alone DAC, or doing nothing if it won't be a noticeable upgrade.
For my 2-channel listening the Denon runs through my Adcom GFP-750 pre and then through my B&K amp; the Yamaha receiver is nowhere in the loop.
So, anyone have an opinion on a good upgrade path for me here?

I think a big factor is how much money you are willing to spend on this upgrade. I noticed an impressive improvement when I upgraded from a $150 cd/dvd Onkyo player to a $500 NAD dedicated cdp. I've never tried a DAC, but a lot of people have had great success with them too. My thinking behind going the dedicated cdp route was that it made more sense to me to get a great sounding cdp with a quality DAC built in. This way I'm upgrading the whole source and not just the DAC portion of it.
