Should let your system go deeper then ever before. That little buttkicker will go deeper than any sub out there.

I'm running a SVS 20-39CS+ and Buttkicker LFE off of a Samson 1,000w rackmount amp (500w to each). It takes some work to really make the Buttkicker feel like it's complementing the bass from the sub rather than just shaking the hell out of your couch, but IT'S WORTH IT when you get the level right. My floors are carpet on concrete slab and the Buttkicker gives me back that feel of having wooden flooring and feeling the room vibrate.

I've only bottomed the Buttkicker out once... and that was with a DTS demo CD that has a strong burst below 9Hz. I'm running a subsonic filter on my SVS at around 18Hz and the Buttkicker fills in the rest.

A CD? Or did you mean a DVD? Was it a movie demo? If so, which movie has bass below 9 Hz?

If it was a CD, what's the title?

    Thanks.

This is going to sound rediculous, but the only time I really got my Buttkicker to bottom out was playing Doom for Xbox. Apparently there is lets of LFE around 5-10hz right at the beginning of the game.

Early, of the top of my head Black Hawk Down has some 6-8hz info at the Irene scene, and Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy does to...as well as I think Final Destination 2 (log scene) and WotW (lightning scene) . There are more but I can't remember them off the top of my head, just search avs for the waterfall thread.

i have carpet on cement slab too.

1st impressions....the feel is very unnatural - conquest alone perform better. How much did you turn the volume on the buttkicker up to, just enough to feel it?

also i got the wireless transmitters, they were worthless - made the buttkicker go off even when there is no signal input. So now i just run the lineout from the conquest direct to the back of the butt kicker amp.

I meant a CD. You can burn DTS-encoded .wav files to CD, then they play back just like a redbook audio CD would, but in DTS. The disc in question was a DTS demo disc, and the track in particular was one of a jungle with a dinosaur stomping through it. Absolutely brutal bass. I'll see if I can dig up the title when I get home.

Well, I'm not running the Buttkicker's amp; I'm running mine off one channel of my Samson 1,000w rackmount amp... plus, my level is affected by my Audyssey MultEQ XT calibration, so I can't give you an actual level.

To set my Buttkicker level, I basically just bounced between a few DVDs that I'm used to hearing - Saving Private Ryan DTS, The Haunting DTS (which softly bottomed the Buttkicker once, but when it happened I registered a 113dB burst from my SVS - way louder than I would ever listen to anything, but I was showing it off to a friend), and U-571 DTS (the infamous depth charge scene). I backed the Buttkicker off to where it is only really noticeable with explosions, etc. - not apparent the whole time you're watching a movie. It isn't supposed to shake your couch like a theme park ride so much as just add a slight tactile feel to really deep bass, as if you were on a wooden floor. In my room, no one notices it until something really loud and deep happens.

It takes some time to find a good unobtrusive level that blends well with your sub, but give it time and I think you'll be happy. Did you also get the isolation feet to decouple your couch from the floor?

these are my settings on the BK amp - low cutoff = off, high frequency cutoff = on@40Hz. all the feets are on isolators xcept the one thats sitting on the BK mounting plate.

with the vibration of air/room/couch caused by the sub, it feels good/natural...but once i crank up the dial on the BK amp till barely feel it, it seems to overwlm the sensation caused by the sub...the good feel goes down the drain...

I love the look of those flared 6" ports :) I have a couple of the Precision Port 6" flared to use in a new build soon as well.

That cat looks like it wanted to crawl up in one of those 6" ports , but using its better judgement didnt ;)

One thing does surprise me though....I dont know if it is the angle of the picture or not, but it looks like a bare MDF wall straight behind the port ?
Usually that area behind the port is shot with black paint a few inches in diameter larger then the port so you dont see the bare MDF.

I have even seen them paint damping material lining walls behind a port so you dont see the color of that material either.

Hell 6" ports are big enough to stick a small digital camera INSIDE for pics without even disassembling anything :D

    Very nice sub......

Can you reverse the phase on the BK?

You can reverse phase by swapping the positive and negative leads. Not sure what good it would do you with a transducer though.

And yes, Meeks... I believe Jurassic Lunch is the name of the track on that DTS demo disc.

Slow, try turning the high filter up to around 70 then backing off the level a bit. You should be able to find a sweet spot where the Buttkicker just mildly reinforces what you're getting from your sub.

I setup mine just like my sub before I got a SPL meter. Find a scene in a movie that you know with lots of <40hz bass. Turn the BK up to a point where it is really noticeable. Very slowly turn it down until you can't really feel the effect, then up it slightly from there.

I had mine for 3-4 months and always felt it was gimmicky until I properly set it up. I personally used WotW Lightning Strike scene to set mine up. It should seamlessly blend with your sub, so you really can't tell where the bass is coming from. Oh yeah, and it helps to turn the unit on/off while setting up, do it while adjusting the level down to get a reference of what the sub is like alone.

Are you worried about noise or delay cause by the long cable? You could always get a y-adapter off your avp.

I personally don't like going the cable route, I just use the simplest I can find which is usually little $. I use this y from Radio shack to split the signal between my BKA and SVS, I bought it because it was cheap, gold plated, small, and grips quite well. I have seen the ACI Y recommended alot as well as the PE which looks quite similar.

i guess it was the long cable distance (24') that might have caused a lag between what my butt felt and the pressure waves generated by the sub. i would think that electrons travel much faster than sound waves.......
