Hey guys, (new to forum)

Ok so I'm on the audio phase of my car now. Have a Galaxy Grey Rx-8 6MT. I am going to redo the whole system pretty soon I'm just saving up money. Trying to stick with a color scheme and a sort of consistency for the car. So here is some info on what I got and what I'm getting

Current Equipment:
Polk DB6501- Front
Polk DB691- Rear
Kicker 06ZX700.5- Amp (only using 4 channels right now)
Tsunami AMP48CAP 4G wiring kit with 1.2 farad cap.

Other stuff I have (not using anymore):
Polk DB571
Pioneer TSG6841R x2
Kicker 06ZX350.4 Amp
Sub box- 27"L x 13"H x 6.5"D

New system ideas:
Polk MMC6500- Front and Rear
Polk MM2104DVC x2
Polk PA500.4 for speakers
Polk PA600.1 for subs
Tsunami 2 farad cap
Pioneer AVIC F90BT or Pioneer AVHP4000DVD(will lose out on sub fade)

What do you guys think? Did I miss anything? Have any questions? Let me know. Again sorry for the long post.

i have kicker 650.4, i think its a nice amp, u dont need to upgrade it, nor do i think having momo components in the rear is necessary. and u might not need a capacitor upgrade aswell. save money, buy single SR woofer or fronts.

the amp I currently have is fine. But I'm looking to put more power into the speakers. I know the components are not necessary. But not much audio from the front gets to the back, and its also partly for show. I already have the trunk set up and its made for 2 10"s. The PA amps are also the perfect color and size. As far as the cap goes my pullys are a bit underdriven and I'm adding some LED's to the car so its just a precaution. Usually 1farad is recommended for every 500 watts anyways.

Sounds like a pretty good setup. I probably wouldn't get a cap either - i'd just upgrade battery and alternator - but its up to you. I love my mmc6500 components.... they sound great, and the tweeters aren't too bright. I also had a 12" momo sub and I think it performed exceptionally well for the price.

The caps are mostly for look as I was thinking for a moment of having 2 1.2 farad caps in a fiberglass enclosure on the trunk lid. Changing the battery when its all done. Any recommendations?. As far as the alternator goes. Any suggestions on where to get one? I think mine puts out 100-amps...not too sure..i may be completely wrong.

Well if I already have the caps is a new battery and alternator really necessary? After all, its not a huge system. Well, there is a total of 1100RMS being put out. Dont know if thats considered big.

Also I was just looking at POlLKS site and they have in RX8 in customer cars....dang... Well anyways. Thats the look in the doors I was going for. Carbon. Although a little more subtle with only the mid on bottom and tweeter by the side view mirror. And more subtle on the trunk too. After all, this is my daily driver, cant have it being a complete show car.

yes I finally sold my 5-channel. And placed an order for 2 MM2104DVC subs.

And so it begins. My system, and an empty wallet.

haha I just keep getting really unlucky. Would have finished the system earlier but I got a speeding ticket... Or 2, ok 3 but only 2 were for speeding. So its slowed me down. Fortunately they are going to start giving us commision at work. Which means more $$.

Lol I should not be complaining as I do get some special pricing on Polk products. Lol I did after all only pay $113 for the 2 subs. Haha I've said too much.

ya. Otherwise I would. I'm only allowed to get 2 pairs of spekers and 2 subs every year.

Thats still a good deal. I don't know many people who replace their subs and speakers EVERY year.

Well I guess this project is getting started. Now as far as the head unit is concerned I was thinking one of the new pioneer avic-f series. Should be coming out next month. They look pretty sweet.

ok so I have decided on the 3 amp setup but there is one thing that worries me. I will be pushing the MM6500's with 150 RMS. They will be overpowered by 25RMS. Should I worry about that? I know with subs overpowering is not a big deal, but what about the speakers. Will they blow?

I wouldn't worry too much about that since its only 25 watts. But just to be safe, you should still use common sense with the volume and gain knobs.

Overpowering becomes a problem sometimes because the voice coil gets too hot at high volumes and doesn't dissipate all the heat in enough time, so eventually it'll just burn out.

Ya I will be very careful with them. So payday is next week and I'm ordering the components. Then taking the car to get some fiberglass panels. Theres no turning back now.
