I am currently trying to put together my first HT system, and definetly want some polk speakers. I was wondering which of these two speakers would be better, Monitor 70's or RTi8's?

I was originally going with:

Monitor 70's
CS2

But now i'm thinking about:

Rti8's
CSia4 or CSi3

Any input would be appreciated.

I prefer the RTi8 & CSi3/CSi5 combination over the Monitor series.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I love my RTi8s. I listened to the Monitor 70s in Circuit City's listening room the other day and they sounded good, too, but I wasn't listening critically, there was a lot of ambient noise, etc...
    Currently listening to:

    Marantz SR5004
    Sony BDP-S370
    Apple TV V2
    Audio Technica AT-LP120
    Mirage CMD-5 x 5
    Bic H-100

    I got the 70's from Polk Direct on ebay for $306/pr + $60 s/h.
I have them bi-amped,they sound superb!
One of the best mid/tweeter combo I've ever heard.

    Under $400......Un...friggin'....believable

I'm retired so I have a lot of time to shop!

I have the LSIC center in cherry from AV Depot for $389,powered by a Crown amp, which I bought used on ebay.

Pioneer Elite SVX-74TXVIS-In "Retro" Silver-Bought new for $380.00

    Toshiba HD-XA1-$92 on ebay
    Pioneer DV-400K-$56 on ebay

    DEF Tech sub-used $180.00 ebay

Zhalou 2.5 DAC and headphone amp-
    $279 new from Audiomagus

    AKG 701 headphones-$260 new ebay
    Super-FI 1.5EB earphones-$79 used ebay,

I put the prices down just to show that
if you have the time and know what gear really is worth....you can save a TON of money.

Also I use PRONTO as a price comparer,to help me wade thru all the websites.

If you're ever looking for something,I'd
be happy to help with the research.
    I practically live on ebay,24/7

I prefered the Rti line over the Monitor line. For HT it is a no brainer.

I ended up going with RTi10's. So i guess this thread i made could be considered done. Unless other people are wondering the same thing as me (which i am sure they are) then by all means keep it going:).
