So are you saying that additional wattage WON'T help the RM50's? If not why not? Or is this simply a bias against the RMseries?

We can debate this all day as usual. I suggest the OP go get an amp & find out for himself.

Here's my take on why. I had 7.1 system with RTi-70 front/rear, CSi-40 center and FX1000's side and had a cheep ($300) Panasonic SAHE200 reciever and the sound was good, I had then after reading the posts on the forum changed out to a Denon 3803 and was told that the change would be for the better all day long. The result after I had bought it and hooked everything up had me and my wife saying I really don'y hear any change in anything, after a while I figured that I would get an amp and went with a $3k Sherbourn 7-2100a (200Wx7) and the change again was really nothing. So after awhile I figured I would give the Rotel 1068 pre a try with the amp and see if anything would get better and the samething the SQ did not get better there were some extremely slight changes in the tone and I mean slight to the point that you really had to pick it apart to know. Everything was connected with DH-Lab cable and wire so that is not a factor only equipment was changed out or upgraded. The whole time my wife was asking me what did you do that for if there really is no improvement? I really didn't know what to say. So I took from that expensive experience that the speakers were giving all they could back when the $300 reciever was in the mix no matter what I did the SQ was what it was. I could have saved a bundle in the swaps had I known that. Now I do, so atleast it wasn't all for nothing.
It has atleast set me up for the next step which are higher fidelity speakers but that also leads to a higher fedility amp and pre which I am currenty working on. So if someone has intentions of getting better speakers (that will merit a better amp section) then go ahead get the amp it will be there when you do but just IMO don't expect much of a change right now, if you are not or can't get better speakers (LSi's or some other brand) you will be more then likely throwing money out the window because you have a decient reciever now.

Ok Dave, I guess I can understand to a point. I have had my $600.00 RTA-8Ts for 18 years. I didn't notice a difference in switching from a 50wpc Rotel amp to a 110wpc Denon receiver. I noticed a HUGE difference when I went from the Denon to a 205wpc Parasound amp! This is what got me going on separate amplification. (Thanks to members of this forum!)

Now I admit that I didn't hear any difference when I upgraded to my Sunfire 405wpc 5 channel amp. So I knew that I had reached to land of diminishing returns. But since I bought it to amp all 5 channels at a weight I could actually lift I was happy. And again it made a HUGE difference in what I can now pick up from my rear speakers.

So quite frankly I'm not really convinced that the OP will not hear a difference in sound with a separate amp driving his RM-50T's over his receiver. The only TRUE way to tell is if he actually gets/borrows an amp for himself & listens.
