BBC Galapagos on BluRay

Like "Planet Earth" this documentary (consisting of 3 shows on 1 disc) has some incredible images/information. Oddly though, this one is 1080i. I could see no difference on my 50" 720p native DLP, the images were crisp, saturated with color, and 3-dimensional. This one is narrated by Tilda Swinton, and she does an excellent job. IIRC, it's 141 minutes. The content is incredibly interesting, I learned many things about the Galapagos that I never knew, and found quite amazing.
I rate this a "buy."

I saw this on NatGeoHD last year. I was just blown away by some of the images. I will own it someday. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

It's a fantastic documentary and has some amazing sights. I loved the part with the sulfuric acid pools in an area that sits 100 feet below sea level. So much of it is just breathtaking.
The same goes for the Planet Earth series and it's gorgeous on blue ray too. It's one of those things that can wow a 40 year old just as easily as a 4 year old. -
When I studied abroad in Ecuador, I had the opportunity to go to the Galapagos islands. Unfortunately, fundage was not in place so I had to hear all the stories from my roommates. Sucks hard.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I suggest you don't watch this then. It may be just a little too much torture

Maybe I'll just indulge my puritanical side and give it a shot. It really does sound fantastic.I never had it like this where I grew up. Almost done planet earth now. The cinematography blows me away! The zoom and 360 degree pan at angel falls is amazing, you never see a shadow from a helicopter or zip line. I would like to know how they do this.
I look forward to getting the one on the galapogos, after reading Darwins account in "voyage of the beagle" it will be interesting to see the visual. -
The first episode just touches on Darwin, but the second is far more in depth about his journeys, discoveries...Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2
