I recently acquired this amp in an as is condition for very cheap. Unfortunately , I was unable to test it out prior to buying and when I plugged it in at home, it would make 2 click noises but would not turn on.

Anyway, I am not technically gifted and need someone preferably near San Jose, CA to diagnose and repair. Anyone have any recommendation or can repair this for me? OF course I am willing to pay a reasonable price to get this done. I really prefer not to ship as this thing is heavy and I don't have the original packing materials. Any help or advice or is appreciate.

I'd suggest you contact The Analog Room in San Jose. They should be able to steer you to someone local, if there is someone local that will work on your Krell.

I did drop into one repair shop in San Jose that I don't remember the name of. It was in a seedy part of town, industrial park kinda place with a brick front on a corner. I wouldn't let that guy fix anything I own.

Honestly, I would give Krell a call. They service the older amplifiers ALL the time, I had a friend who burned up some output devices on a KSA 50 a few years ago, they replaced all of them and gave the amp a tune up for around $500. You may be only out a few hundred if it isn't a huge fix, which still might not be to bad if you got the amp for a steal.

I've heard of Analog room so will give them a call tomorrow. I'll also try Krell but always heard they were super expensive but from what you say it may be reasonable. I really don't want to send this heavy amp out as it will be a pain to package. If anyone has any other suggestions on places they used local to San Jose or within 1 hour, let me know. Cheers.
