Case and point:

Hancock (2008)
I Am Legend (2007)
I, Robot (2004)
Men in Black II (2002)
Wild Wild West (1999)
Men in Black (1997)
Independence Day (1996)

And all the movies are pretty good too (and Hancook LOOKS cool). I threw Wild Wild West in there because it's strangely sci-fi...

Well I don't know about all of that. WWW stunk it up pretty bad and MiB II was not very good. Independance Day, MiB and I, Robot were good flicks. He's good, i like him.

    However...

Others are right there or above him. Take Ian McKellan for instance. He owns Gandalf and Magneto. With a 2 movie release of The Hobbit scheduled to start filming, we'll see him in action once again.

How about Christopher Lee. Dude has been going at it forever! He's the man! Everything from Dracula in the '50's, to Scaramanga in James Bond Man with the Golden Gun, to Saruman in Lord of the Rings and Count Dooku in the last 2 Star Wars. When he's on screen, he RULES!

    DING!

Yeah, Will Smith is good but Ian and Christopher both popped into my head before Will Smith.

Also, Christopher Lloyd comes to mind. He was in a bunch of stuff from Buckaroo Banzai to Back To The Future. He was also in Star Trek and Amazing Stories, two staples of the 80's in movies and TV. Plus he voiced alot of stuff in cartoons too. He got so many credits both in front of and behind the camera that it's hard to list enough to give a good perspective of his total career.

Then you have Patrick Stewart who was on Star Trek for something like 9 seasons I think it was plus 3 or 4 movies. He's also in X-men and he did voice over work for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie last year. He's got a pile more of the voice over work too from "The Last Dragon" to a part in "Jimmy Neutron".

Yeah, Will Smith has some nice credits to his name but say he is the Sci-Fi Actor of Our Time is a bit of a stretch.

Star Wars and Blade Runner. Better movies and Blade Runner is a cult classic. Seems like Ford was in some other "Sci-fi" stuff I can't remember right now. Chris

Stargate SG1 doesn't make any top Sci-Fi lists for me... The original was kind of cook, but that's where it stops.

And speaking of not liking I Am Legend, if that movie didn't float your boat, don't watch Omega Man with the Heston. It's the original version and not as good.

I'm also going to throw Charlton Heston into the list: (and it doesn't include all the just plain awesome non Sci-Fi movies)

    Armageddon (1998)
    Solar Crisis (1990)
    Soylent Green (1973)
    Omega Man (1971)

    Planet of the Apes (1968)

How about nominating someone that can act, as the sci-fi actor of our time? That guy blows from top to bottom. A couple of quick verbal quips do not make an actor.
