What About Ayre?

Has anyone ever owned a piece of Ayre gear? If so, what were your impressions? They seem to have rock solid gear. I heard one of their amps in an audio store a couple of years back and I was fairly impressed, but I don't hear much about them.

    I heard a Ayre setup hooked up to a pair of Dynaudio Sapphires a couple of weeks ago. I was fairly impressed also.

    The Ayre gear I've heard was stellar.

    Sweet gear. That being said, the CX5 didnt blow away my Cary Audio.....when I owned it.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    A local shop has Ayre components in the main room. Its great stuff. If I was to replace my existing Simaudio components, it would be a flip of the coin between Ayre and Simaudio.

    The last time I was there, they had the KX-R pre, MX-R amps, with a Brinkman TT feeding an Aesthetix Io phono stage (don't remember the cartridge) and ProAc speakers all wired together with Nordost Odin cables. What a system! Hate to think what the retail cost was on that configuration.

    One day I need to call them to see if they have the Dynaudio Sapphire speakers hooked up. I would like to hear how these compare to the Dyn C1's I have.

    Any planned system changes coming in the future??

    No, not at all. I swim in the shallow <$1K pool. Just curious 'cause I rarely hear about Ayre products.
