I recenty bought a Onkyo 805 receiver, and a Polk SW111 sub. I am using 4 relatively old satellite speakers. I cannot get the sub to work. It is plugged into the subout on the receiver and LFE on the sub. Can anyone help me out? I'm ready to send it back.
Thanks in advance,
Carolyn

    Welcome Carolyn to Club Polk..
You may need to go into the menu of your Onkyo 805 and turn on the subwoofer output. i'm not familiar with your specific receiver. but that's a common problem with no sound coming out of a subwoofer.

When I first got my SR805, and ran thru the Audyssey setup, the level on my sub wasn't up high enough, and the Audyssey didn't 'hear' it, so it set my system to "No Sub". I turned up the sub and reran the setup and it detected and it works fine now.

Just mentioning that in case you ran the auto setup-it might have turned it off. You can turn the sub back on manually, but it won't have been included in the setup calculations if you do. But its certainly the first step to troubleshoot the issue.

I have the 705, and yes, the receiver has a VERY low output for the LFE. You'll need to turn up the gain a lot if you've gone through the auto-eq. Also, try switching from the auto on to the always on for the subwoofer just as a test to make sure its getting a signal from the receiver.

Basic question: Is the power light on the sub lit?

its a common mistake on the 805 to plug the sub into wrong output. Be sure its plugged into subwoofer output on rear and not analog input. They are both purple colored so its a easy mistake. then go into menu and set subwoofer on

is the subwoofer new or used? if new.. you may want to return it where you bought it... but i don't think it would be bad. but you never know.

lastly, I would call Polk Audio customer service and see if they can help you out. They are very good.
