Unfortunately, the level of service you are dreaming of isn't possible with the amount of money paid to the sales staff at a big box store. There's a reason its mostly high school students.

We can't get the low low prices and expect to get the same level of service. Something's gotta give.

BB's people actually "try" to help. CC doesn't.

BB maybe slightly overall better in that respect, but I personally don't see it as much of a difference. A few months ago I bought my LCD at a BB. I practically had to chase someone down and beg for them to simply ring it up. Here I was, ready to drop $2k+ and everyone was either too busy or didn't work in that section so they couldn't help.

I didn't really mind though. I got the TV for much less than any other brick and mortar store. Combined with a few price matches in the following months and I got a steal for what I paid.

I've always liked CC a little better than BB even if I rarely buy stuff there. With Amazon's price advantage, Costco's awesome return policy, and fantastic used bargains easily found, I don't have much need for a store where I'm likely to pay much more than I would if I just googled the model number at home.

Circuit City used to be comparable to Best Buy, price wise and merchandise wise but not anymore and really not in the past 2 years.

I despise our local Circuit City as they use bait and switch a lot. They almost never have advertised specials. Merchandise is often mis-marked and not displayed under the proper description and many times no description card (which includes the price) even exists.

Try to get someone to check you out and take your hard earned money; it's a chore that I will no longer tolerate. The kick in the pants here is that they are moving to a larger store in a more visible strip mall; like that will help.

Best Buy for the most part has advertised specials and returning items, if their policy is followed ,is no hassle. Beyond that I would prefer to buy on-line as the prices are better and I usually always know more about what I'm buying than any sales person at one of these types of stores. Large items that are expensive to ship I usually buy at BB since in the end it's more cost effective.

But I will say for large appliances I have a local company that has been in business for 60 years that my family for a couple generations have used so the local independent gets my business for washer/dryer/refrig/microwave; that kind of stuff.

They are taking over part of the old Media Play/Old Country Buffet building at Forest Plaza shopping center. I had some other details but I forget now.

Off topic: I'll send you a PM about Blackhawk Farms auto cross later tonight. I need to get my user controls in order and clean out my PM's and figure out some of this new stuff works. :p

i worked for circuit for nearly 2 years, i was laid off last march because me and 3400 of their most veteran, and most knowledgeable employees were getting paid "too much" and were then let go. i went in there the other day to talk to some old friends who work there, and it was just a nightmare, nobody knew anything about any of the product they sell, ESPECIALLY the audio side.

JMO, but I don't think it makes much sense for BB to be trying to get into (relatively) highend audio. I've been to 2 different Magnolia dept.'s, a total of 5x, and ony 1 timewas there anybody in there to help with sales. NOT gonna wait all day to drop $2,500 on 1 pair of speakers! Tweeter will take my money NO problem.
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
