I just bought another replacement A35 the other day. Plus with all the HD-DVD titles I have, it's far from dead. Well that and I keep whjoring myself out on Amazon.
I should've listened way back in 2008, they told me I'd go broke... they were right

Why people are paying $400 for refurbished HD players? It's a dead format.

    Toshiba XD-XA2

I have both the XA1 and XA2,Got em both used for $250 total

    Why?????

XA1-4 Audio Dsp's-Finest Cd player I've ever had

XA2-Reon Optilix Chip-This is the best upconverting player.......EVER!
The Reon chip is superior to even the Faroudja.

Burr-Brown DACS and Reon Chips gets you the best CD and DVD performance
    money can buy.....all for $250.

    ....and you're asking why?
    .....please

No,it's very good, but Toshiba put their
money into the video Dacs on the XA2
and the audio DACS on the XA1.

    BTW,these are SACD and DVD-A players also,with 2ch or 6ch outputs.

    My XA1,has a double copper chassis,very,very,stable as a cd transport......great isolation.

Both these players are built like tanks, theyre over 20lbs each.

Be aware that they are very quirky:
    slow to load,inconsistent remotes,etc.
But,ok,as long as you have the latest firmware upgrades.

    They'll drive you nuts....but they're worth it.

If you had to choose....go with the XA1
for audio....you'll never hear better. It's also about a third of the price of an XA2.

have you played a SACD or DVD-Audio disc in it? just because a player has 5.1 analog outs on it. doesn't mean it can play the SACD or DVD-Audio layer on a disc. just curious about this.

yes,I have both SACD and DVD audio discs...quite a few as a matter of fact.
    Also,I play dvd's thru the analog 6 ch output.The XA1 has it's own speaker set-up for all 5.1 channels,including LFE........but,only 5.1,not 7.1 thru the anolog output.

BTW,I'm in the process of buying another XA1....why?...I wnt to have a back-up for years to come.
I had a $2000 tube cd player that didn't sound as good as this.

Can anyone else confirm that the XA1 or XA2 will play both SACD and DVD-A? This is the first I've heard of this.

The XA1 and the A1 both have the four Burr Brown DACs. Link to Specs

I would think either would be supurb for Audio CDs as well as upconverting. The XA1s carry a small price premium. Can someone expain the difference in the two players.
