This is out in book and DVD.... i really enjoyed this movie. There are no Hollywood actors in this movie.. they would have ruined it. It was tough to watch in some scenes, but is well worth it if you see in till the end.

"The Kite Runner" is one of the most controversial films of the year, and it's not just one of those controversies invented by PR people to sell tickets. No, this is a film that was actually pulled from release because the producers began to fear for their safety of their actors. That may give you an idea of just how sensitive and topical some of the material is. "The Kite Runner" is an important film for our modern world, because now more than ever, we need stories that show the reality of war, not just action movies that glamorize the violence. It was adapted from the best-selling book, and some critics have charged that something was lost in translation, but if you don't bring the baggage of the novel into the screening, you will be very moved.

dranks what did you think it was about.. a nice fluffy kite competition with kittens and puppies? it's a gritty movie.. yeah not for everyone. I thought it captured the times in the part of the world in the late 70's. It was about two boys growing up together.. a father having a relationship with his son's and other friendships.. and how they evolve over a span of time.

Yes, I did. That's what title suggested it was about. I didn't expect what I saw.

I could think of much more accurate titles for this movie than the one used.

I don't mean offense to you but I didn't like the movie and you do nuff said.

I misread the title. I thought it was about a Jewish jogger.

    Ha Ha!

Really, if watching a 12 year old boy walk home, all the while bleeding from their backend right after being raped by three guys is is considered entertainment..........

Not sure why my posts are getting deleted, maybe a server reset or something. So lets try this again:

    Haha that's funny right there!

I went and saw this movie without reading the book, and while the movie was disturbing, and carried no "entertainment value" so to speak whatsoever, I was still interested in the story through the entire movie and thought it was a really good movie. Now that I have some more free time I will read the book at some point.

an you didn't offend me one bit. you and I just like different types of movie. and don't misunderstand me.. i'm not voting for this to be a movie of the year or anything. I just thought it was like you, different that what I expected. but also well done.

Movies are meant to entertain yes, but not all are nice fluffy films. Maybe that's it right there.. the Kite Runner is a film, and not a movie. The word movie evokes high entertainment value, and a film to me means thought provoking images and story line.
