we usually dont get stuff like we had last night.....
inches of rain, hail up to 3" in places, and tornadoes. quite a bit of damage around. me? a funnel touched down less than a mile from me, and tore up a bunch of stuff. i made it out ok, but i now know that clog-less gutters do not hold up to their namesake. i am just thankful to (a) have been at home, and (b) own buckets. i know there were some homes lost and some cars blown off of the road (and two fed-ex tractor trailers crashed into each other)--- they will be in my thoughts today. i count myself as lucky.

Yeah, man, that was pretty rough! Took me a while to get to sleep with all that thunder. There for about an hour it was relentless, and it really was a torrential down pour. The lightning really made it look like day outside, too.
Thankfully, it didn't stay in Kernersville too long. It touched down not too far from us, but riding through town you can see any damage, thank goodness.
I heard a tornado touched down at the airport and now there are airplanes sitting on top of airplanes. Also heard that in the thick of it there were 200 lightning strikes per hour.
I just got back from Greensboro, and there's a lot of trees and junk down on the sides of the road, and the farmer's market on the side of the highway is all torn up.George Grand wrote: »

nice to meet you.

Yeah, born and raised in K'ville; 'bout to head out, though, for college.
I'm guessing you probably live off Griffith Road (I think that's the name?) between Village Tavern and Moe's?
I'm not exactly sure where Kernersville Lake Park is...I know, I should know...but I don't.... I live off Hopkins.George Grand wrote: »

Yea, my dad is a maintenance manager for a Fed Ex aircraft terminal, and they lost 2, and possibly 3 planes last night in that storm (on the ground...)
I'm up here in Asheville, and we didn't get a bit of bad weather. A little rain and that was it. I guess the mtns shielded us from the mess, which was good!

Here in Raleigh we did not get here that bad. We had alot of wind and rain but no hail or tornados. Glad everyone is ok

Been living down here for 3 years, and I still can't get over the RAIN!!!
Y'all just can't have normal, everyday rain, maybe a light sprinkle. NOPE! Y'all gotta have something out of the Old Testament!!!
And I've witnessed the 'Blizzard of 78 & 05'I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
You Carolinians must be real wussies, sounds like a normal spring day to me. What you experienced are just breezes over here and we pray for hail that size just for the moisture......;)at least where I live it is flat enough to see the tornado coming from miles away and the local weather forecasters are the best in the world.

lol born and raised? kv lake park is off of old valley school road--- perhaps 2 miles from hopkins. and k-ville is a SMALL town. where are you going to school?
i bought a motorcycle from a guy in kensington a few years ago, and my high-school bud lived in whatever 'hood that is at the bottom of the hill--- where the pool is (i guess it is still there?). good times.
*edit: i think it is hidden hills?
actually, i live off of bolton, right behind forsyth hospital. i would be happy to babysit any gear or music once you skip town.....

i was waiting for this--- in fact, i was going to go ahead and mention it myself in the first post.
but hey, if you move to florida, you dont expect a snowstorm. it is all relative. and i can say with some certainty that i wont be moving to midwest anytime soon, even though the wife is from st louis.

Anyone see the video from Bama? That twister was tossing around cars and trucks like they were Hot Wheels."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

I have always been fascinated with Tornadoes. It’s a love / hate relationship. I do not like the damage they do but would love to see one up close. One day. I feel for you folks that live in areas where Mother Nature throws the worst of her at you. Be safe.Michael
