Down the road a bit you may want to look into room treatments for that 20 X 20 room.
    Sharp Elite 70
    Anthem D2V 3D
    Parasound 5250
    Parasound HCA 1000 A
    Parasound HCA 1000
    Oppo BDP 95
Von Schweikert VR4 Jr R/L Fronts
    Von Schweikert LCR 4 Center
    Totem Mask Surrounds X4
    Hsu ULS-15 Quad Drive Subwoofers
    Sony PS3
    Squeezebox Touch

Polk Atrium 7s on the patio just to keep my foot in the door.

Like what? I guess I could have specified earlier, but I do have some art pieces that should deflect sound as well as curtians and a lot of funiture. I'm sure it could be better, but as its not a dedicated underground lair with stadium seating and 10000watts of power on a 150" screen, it should be fine. Unless there is something easy I can do?...

With 100 watts you'll still be able to have bleeding ears, especially with efficient Rtis. I owned every speaker in the old Rti line and powered them with everything from an aiwa receiver to a musical fidelity integrated amp. I had a marantz receiver along the way which was rated at 110 wpc x 6. In reality it was only about 17 wpc. Even with 17 wpc I turned it up extremely loud. If you end up with that rotel amp you'll definitely be able to blast music, especially if you use a 5 or 7 channel stereo mode on your receiver.

If you have wood or tile floors, throw a carpet on them. If you have big windows, grab some curtains. Unless you REALLY want to get serious about things I think you'll be more then happy with that.

:D No dylan, Cfrizz is not rolling HER eyes, it's your money & you have to do what's best for you with the money you have. I simply gave you my opinion.

So what did you buy on Ebay? I'm sure it will do fine congrats.

Any opinions on the Adcom 7400? I think I might be still leaning more for a good 2ch than an ok 5ch.

Well, to start a couple bass traps in the corners and some traps at first/second reflection points. Then maybe some diffusion on the rear wall.

You would be suprised how traps will make what you have sound so much better than new pieces.

Yeah, I'm getting ready for that so I can set everything up properly when the amp gets here. I'm still keeping my eyes open for another (probaly 5ch) amp so I can do 7.1 eventually. Also looking for black rti4s or rti6s for that purpose.

now that I think about it, my Onkyo does have a mic for speaker calibration. How would that compare to doing it manually with a SPL meter?

I suppose that it would help to have a spl meter for sub placement mostly (at least vs. the Onkyo system), especially considering there are only so many places I can move speakers... the sub is a little more flexable. Does this sound right?

I have automatic calibration on my AVR as well. I let the AVR auto calibration run but I follow up with the SPL and find that gives me the best sound.
