I have a 80 gig Zune I have that stays connected at all times...

I recently updated it to firmware 2.5 --- ever since this update it will no longer add any new songs to my collection.

So, I so far have totally wiped the Zune (firmware and all) - reinstalled the software, downloaded Microsoft collection reset dealy....

Tried manually rebooting the Zune, tried searching google...

The error code is a general error, no specifics...

It is really starting to piss me off... Zune has an online telephone help. But I really don't want to talk to some guy in India who can barely understand me.

What on earth is going on here?

Can you not revert back to the previous firmware version? You should be able to do a "hard" reset that should reset it back to the factory standards. I had to do this once on my iPod and haven't had any problems since. Sorry about the problems man.

The Zune software wont let you do anything with your Zune unless you have the latest firmware...

I found this via Google for the hard reset steps. Mind you this erases EVERYTHING!

Press and hold the back button
    Press up until it reboots
Then start pressing and holding the center “OK” button and pressing left on the control pad (you have to do step 3 when the screen goes blank but before the reboot process actually starts)

You should write Bill Gates and thank him.

I wiped the slate clean as far as deleteing everything on the Zune, songs, pictures, movies, firmware - everything.

    I even reinstalled the software...

It like only lets me add like.... 20% of my music...

    Bunch of bull crap

Sell the thing on CL as a "Limited" Edition Zune. Just don't tell them the limited portion refers to the amount of music you can put on it.

I feel your pain... I had a 30gb zune I got a crazy deal on as a refurb and spent probably 15 / 20 hours researching and trying different things just so I could get it to synch properly after a firmware upgrade. Ended up returning it for a replacement and didn't have any problems with that unit. Sold it a couple months later. Giving microsoft a shot was definitely worth it but wow do they ever make it hard to stick around when all other products don't give you nearly the amount of hassle.
