ok, so i'm new to this whole amp thing,
why do i want one?
what do i use it for? (i'm a noob, sorry)
does it negate the wattage of my receiver or add to it?
what would go good with RM50Ts?

and i think thats it for now.

If your reciever doesn't have preamp outputs, an amp will do you no good unless you buy a seperate preamp. Recievers are preamp, tuner and power amp combinations. Most people go to seperate componants (preamp and power amp) to get more power than the majority of recievers offer. Depending on what reciever you have, it may have enough power to drive you speakers with no problems. If you have clipping problems with your current reciever when driving your speakers at high volumn levels, you need to go to either a more powerful reciever or seperates.

ah good point on the middle of the night.... didn' think of that... i figure i'm up, everyone is, I'm running two RM50Ts as my mains with a vm20 center, rm8's for my side and rear surrounds, and a dsw 600 pro sub... i'm powering them all with a pioneer elite 81txv receiver that claims to put out 110 watts per channel..
    thx again for the help.
