Dead car stereo?

This probably belongs in the Car forum, but not many people look at the threads in there so I figured I'd get a better response here.
I got into my car today, popped on the faceplate, and started driving. Everything was fine until about 30 seconds later I went to turn up the volume. As soon as I touched the knob all channels cut out. I thought it was just the radio station until I tried playing a CD. I don't hear anything, no white noise, no static, and especially no music.
I've checked all the wires twice and everything is connected as it should be. There's no reason for anything to be different as I haven't moved the wires since I put that stereo in two years ago.
All the lights on the faceplate work fine, CD player spins the CD, radio stations should be coming in clearly, but I don't hear anything.
Model is Pioneer DEH-6800MP.

Are you running an amp of any sort? Stock premium sound system amp? Aftermarket amp? If so, look for fuses in those circuits.
If not, could there be a fuse in the HU? I have no idea if any HU's have fuses or not...just grasping at straws, there.
Does that HU have an option to turn off the internal amp? I'm thinking not, but if so, would make for a really embarrassing scare if the internal amp was just turned off (and you're not using an external one).
Hope you get it figured out!George Grand wrote: »

There's one 10 amp fuse in the back of the HU, but since all the lights and everything else works I figured the fuse was fine. There's no option to disable an internal amp nor am I using an external one. I'm using 5.25" momo comps.

Good idea, I hadn't thought of that. I suppose if the HU is actually fine and the amp just died, I don't really need a new HU just an AMP for the comps. That would be an upgrade anyway and cheaper then a new HU! Score!
