monitor 60 setup
Hi...i'm not sure if I put this topic in the right section but i need some advice. My onkyo receiver has a auto calibration which i used. I have 2 monitor 60s and a CS1 for the fronts and a sub. It set the 60s and the CS1 to large with the crossover for the sub at 120hz. Does this set up seem right or should the crossover be around 80hz with the speakers set to small?

Set them to Small @ 80hz.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

According to my Yamaha recievers manual. Setting the speakers to "large" takes bass away from the subwoofer and directs more to the front. Setting them to "small" directs more bass to the subwoofer.
I have monitor 60's also, with a Klipsch center and Boston Acoustics subwoofer.
My current reciever setup:
Fronts: Small
Center: Small
Crossover: 40HZ at the reciever
1) Max out your front & subwoofer "speaker levels"....at the reciever.
2) Set the center speaker level to about 80-90% of max.
My logic says steps 1 & 2, divert power to the actual speakers you are using ? All i know is it sounds alot better, IMO.
Subwoofer set up:
I have my subwoofer volume knob a hair over 1/2 way.
Crossover knob maxed out ( all the way clockwise !)
Then tweak from there, to your taste........
I did bi-wire my monitor 60's. They sound better and better as they break in.
Good luck !
