Believe I follow Phuzz in the list if that's still ok. This is coming at a perfect time for me. I've got no money but getting a new demo at no charge is perfect.

I look forward to hearing them and giving some feedback. I've passed on my addy to phuzz.

    Thanks!

Rich, yes you do follow Phuz. Anthony (amulford) was in line before phuz but he could not take delivery, so that's why I am asking if he wants to go after him. Of course if he cannot take them the cables will go to you ;)

Got them today. They're hooked up and warming up. :)

Question: I've never seen or known about the imedance matching feature in the interconnets. What should this be set to? Or how do I know what to set it to? Any documentation would be helpful.

Look in your pre's owners manual under specs, input impedance.

    Phuz,

You need to know the input impedence for the gear the signal is going to, if you cannot find out set the switch in the middle.

MIT audio cables to me are the best! One reviewer on the Polk Audio Forum explains it this way:

"...the bass is much more solid, highs have a crispness and air around them, the sound stage has opened up - even more the depth and separation between instruments and singers..."

This is taken straight from the body of his ad. Wonder if I get 15% of the sale?

Sorry Rich had forgotten about that PM. They're on their way. Should be there on the 6th.

When I get a minute I'll try to write something up. I will say I really enjoyed the cables and they did make a difference over my Kimber 8tc/Hero combo. Considering overall synergy I'm thinking I'll maybe upgrade my pre and/or amp before I go on a cable binge though.

Thanks for this opportunity guys. When I get a moment I've got some stuff going up for Karma so keep an eye out...

Ok got the cables and then realized the spades were too small for the binding posts on the Tylers so had to spend a few more bucks on adapters(bummer).
No worries they were here just a few days later. I hadn't listened to my system closely in quite a few days and decided to just put on both the ICs and the
speaker wire rather than trying to determine sonic signature of each.

Finally had a chance to really listen on the 3rd or 4th day with some uninterrupted time.

    Listened to the usual lot
    Garcia, Grisman Rice (HDCD)
    Neil Young (HDCD)
    Sara McLauchlan
    Eva Cassidy
    Leo Kotke
    Norah Jones

I found a few areas of distinct difference and other areas I didn't find much noticeable difference at all.

Biggest difference and one I saw others mention was low end. Undoubtedly more bass. Not necessarily tighter or faster etc. just more of it.
My speakers are only about 18" from the wall so if I were to have these cables permanently I might think them to pronounced. It would probably require new cables or me to move the speakers further from the wall. Not sure which is the more honest cable in this regard.

I didn't find much difference in highs to be honest, the MITs could have been slightly richer in overall tone and may have aided the mids just a hair
but as mentioned the real difference was in the pronounced bass.

The other main difference(s) was the music had more separation between instruments. I don't mean space and air. I mean that each instrument was almost comparmentalized and was very distinct from the others in the sound stage. The instruments were also pushed forward towards me.
The sound came out in front of the speakers more than I had ever heard. It wasn't necessarily from the direction of the speakers themselves as instruments were still where they were supposed to be just "out in front". The stage didn't become wider or higher.

It was certainly a different sound. More than I was expecting really. Of course the differences were more or less pronounced on different tracks and dics.

After this brief demo they are certainly a brand of cable I would consider. It's hard to say though if after long periods I'd still be intrigued by the separation/compartmentalization of the instruments. Couldn't decide if it was "natural" or just different or what. It was defintely cool.

Anyway it was a great to be able to check these out. Thanks guys for giving us all the opportunity to have a listen. Greatly appreciated.

My time is up with the MITs, unfortunately. Got some good ear time with the interconnects but not much time with the speaker cables as there wasn't a viable way to make them work with my tiny integrated. I will get to listen to them tonight, then they're off to Steve on Monday.

Ricardo and Ted, thanks for putting your gear out on the line so I could try it out. I'll write some more comments on the sound a bit later this weekend.

Cables got shipped today to DisneyJoe7, should be there by the end of the week.

After reclaiming my Rotel from a friend who's been using it, I was able to listen to the Terminator speaker cables Saturday and Sunday. I used my normal front end, a Sony SCD-C555ES SACD player hooked to my Tim Rawson built Pass B1 Buffer pre with MIT Terminator 3 ICs and a Pro-ject Debut III with the stock (captured) ICs to a Bugle phono pre which was connected to the B1 with MIT Terminator 4 ICs. The MIT cables took the place of Belden 5T00UP 10AWG wire from Bluejeans Cable. Initial observation was that the music sounded louder although the volume knob hadn't been touched. Bass was a bit tighter and more defined. Better seperation of images in the soundstage, ability to discern instruments from one another was improved. Most obvious improvement was during a live version of Dark Star off of one of the Dick's Picks series. There's a passage where previously I'd heard a metallic percussive instrument that started out as a light but quick sound that crescendoed into a loud crash, sounded as if it were located high and to the right of the soundstage; with the MITs I could tell it was a set of gongs set up behind the r/s drummer that were set up with the smaller ones to the left and then getting larger to the right. They were struck lightly at first, starting with the smaller one, then got louder as the sound panned to the right. I did enjoy these cables in my system more then the Belden, but I couldn't tell you if it were the quality of the cable, the synergy the MIT cables had with the MIT ICs that were used throughout, or a combination of both.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the Terminators with my system as it has been recently. The integrated I've been using to drive my Fonkens is so small I couldn't fit the spades to the binding posts in a way that I was comfortable with. While I was curious to hear the combo of the Fonkens and the MIT cables, I wasn't disappointed that I didn't get to listen to them. The combination of a Class T amp and the Fostex drivers in the Fonkens like a bit more resistance in the speaker cables to help control the driver better. I've been using a twisted pair of Cat 5 cable for each of the positive and negative connections to achieve this.

The Shotgun 3 ICs were very impressive. I was able to use them right away to connect the CDP to the Trends TA-10.1 run as an integrated amp first. They replaced a pair of Kimber PBJs, and trounced them in performance. The brass section sounded harsh and generically metallic with the PBJs, with the Shotguns the trumpets sounded smoother and more "brass-y" with that resonance you hear from the bell after the note's left it. Saxes sounded reedy and throaty, esp the bigger tenors and bari saxes. Cymbals had a similar improvement, the metallic crashing changed to a shimmery, splashy sound with more brass body to it. Bass guitars growled more, plucked metal strings had that "skritch" sound more evident.

In the middle of my demo I received the B1 pre from Mr. Rawson. I was hesitant to use it in front of the pre because, quite honestly, I don't completely understand the concept behind how this thing controls the volume. I know the input impedance of the unit is dictated by the resistance of the volume control potentiometer, but I'm not sure if the input impedance changes with the settings of the volume knob. With the impedance matching switch on the cables, I wasn't certain they wouldn't be harmed in some way. Here's a link if you'd like to read more about the B1. Lemme know if you can explain it more to me. :o At this point I switched the TA-10.1 to be used as a power amp only with the B1 as the pre. I used the Shotguns between the two, with a pair of Terminator 3 ICs between the CDP and the pre. Some of the harshness was back when listening to CD as the source. Not as bad as with the PBJs, but still a noticeable degradation in SQ. These things are pricey, on A-gon prices are in the $300 range, but I will own a pair one day. Ted, thanks for letting me live like you big dogs, even if it were temporarily.

Thanks to Ricardo as well, for the opportunity to listen to something different and the reminder of how cool the people around here are.
