    I recommend 15" Velodyne DLS-5000R that produces 1000 watts RMS and 2000 wats Peak for $800 from B&H. :)

Yes, they sound very clean and loud!
I have two of them one on each corner. They are digital too.

I would try to find a used Sunfire subwoofer. First of all, this would allow you to demo it and hear it for yourself. Second, Carver's subs have great technology built into them and used ones goes for your price range. Plus, would doesn't want a sub that sounds larger than it looks?

Yes, they have Digital Signal Processing. DLS in the model number stands for Distortion Limiting System. These subwoofers 10 years ago each would have costed three times as much as they are now! They are loud and deep with incredible impact and lower distortion.

If you have a spare amp, look into the VMPS subs. I have the Larger and it presents none of the boom, but lots of the low digging notes needed to complete the spectrum. Food for thought.

I just recieved my Epik: Knight don't know why I'm posting this since I have no other relative subwoofer experience to base this on other then one I got with my logitech computer speakers... I like the knight though so for my non relative experience though it sounds tight it can hit extremely low and shake my tiny room. The Knight is huge though and the caliber is actually bigger so make sure you measure dimensions of where you're planning on putting it.

I really want a powered sub. I will some day get seperates but for now i just need a nice powered sub. Like i said i wish someone sold HSU, SVS and EPIK subs so i can go listen to them. If any one is interested here is a comparison between the svs and the HSU sub http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20925

I am hoping someone here has one of the subs i mentioned so i can here what you like and dislike about them:)

I purchased mine mainly for HT use tbh I enjoy music but haven't started collecting much music yet. If you list some of your favorite songs I can see what I can do about sound testing them between the RTi8, RTi4, CSi3 settup I have now with the sub turned off and on see if I can give you a comparrison between the natural bass the speakers output and what the sub contributes.

Epik, Hsu, SVS, Outlaw, ED don't make any subs that aren't musical if calibrated properly and even the entry level Hsu and eD subs are much more powerful than your Velo (which is a nice little musical sub as well in the right room). The $600-$700 price point offers you the PB12NSD and Hsu 3.3. If you look at Ilkka's measurements they are fairly close in output. Arguably, either is an excellent choice. The Epik Knight or Calibre should give you an additional 3-5dbs of headroom across the same FR due to the larger cabinet and 15" driver. So from that perspective, it's a wonderful value. Craigsub did an Epik Valor eval utilizing the same driver and gave it high marks for musicality. The ported Knight would probably score within +/- a point or 2 of the ED A5-350, the Calibre higher, maybe way higher. I think you can see where I'm going...if you've got the space, get the Epik and don't look back

This is the reason I recommended you a 15" Velodyne DLS-5000R, jasonbarnett. It will do more than other subwoofers with smaller drivers. Of course, the bigger is not necessarily better, but a bigger driver will move more air in your space and will work well to give you the low frequency sound that you are seeking for. :)

That's the beauty of this hobby. There's so many products for your personal taste. What I or anyone else enjoys in music, speakers, subs, is not something that is defined by an industry expert. It's what that person enjoys. Bose is an industry leading speaker company, but I wouldn't buy Bose speakers. Clearly many people find Bose speakers musical.

I have a SVS 39-20. First sub that ever really made me feel sick when the tactile bass hit my stomach. Don't really know what happened. But, the balance in my ears just went crazy and I got dizzy. Needless to say I had it up way to loud. It's excellent for music as well as movies.

    Yeah, There's the problem.
I tried velo's 2 yrs ago andbut they crapped out on me (twice!)
Have you tried Klipsch? I've got 3 in my home theatre and let me tell you it sounds like two giant cabinets as if you were live @ the show feeling Gedy Lee's bass pumpin at your face. No BS dude, Not that Klipsck is my weapon of choice but it's all I could afford at the time and I would not chage that for anything (except For BOWERS & WILKINS SUBS (B&W) but those subs are like $2000. each and that is not near in my budget, but for 700 bucks you should get a Klipsch ,,,you will NOT be disapointed (trust it from a RUSH fan too!)

:D No need to invoke Bose. I didn't qualify my statment other than say that those manufacturers make musical products. Not that some might not find them so. They are all capable, quite linear and can be setup optimally with excellent results. Some subs can't be and some subs do a better job in musical application. I just didn't get your "nonsense" comment.
