Hello
I came across this the other day on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/COMPLETE-RESTORATION-SVC-PIONEER-SX-1050-AND-OTHERS_W0QQitemZ5847727749QQihZ001QQcategoryZ50596QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
He also has one for the 1250:

I have an SX-950 and it does need some help, I've been in contact with the guy and he sounds very professional and has responded quickly and in depth to all my questions.
So, I was just wondering what you guys thought, it seems like a good deal to me......
Thanks

I would consider it. However, you might be able to pick up a SX-950 in minty shape for near the price of restoration (especially when you take into cosideration the cost of shipping back and forth). I've seen them from time to time for under $300 in VERY nice condition. Even though the SX-950 is a very nice Silver Pioneer, it isn't in the same category as the SX-10xx or SX-12xx series. Those probably warrant the funds to restore. To do so with the SX-950 is more of a preference/sentimental thing.
That said...given the amount of feedback and the fact that it is 100% and the nature of what he does...he is probably legit."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

I miss my SX-780, what a beautiful piece of gear. I had it teamed with the PL-512, CT-F500, and HPM 40's.
Ahhh, the simple times. We used lamp cord and loudness buttons. Someone pass the doober over here...Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

Yes, its more of a sentimental thing for me, I purchased it brand new in 1977 along with the Pioneer Turntable and some HPM 100's. I've bid on a couple of 1250's but of course it gets too rich for me....
I imagine all get outbid on this one too:
