LSi9s Question (Proud New Owner)
G'day all,
I'm the proud new owner of a pair of Cherry LSi9s - brand spanking new. I even have achieved the legendary WAF with these speakers! Just upgraded from the RTi10s - the LSi series is certainly in another league.
For other current owners, and those in the know, can you please confirm if the layout of the driver's are in reverse to the norm, or what I have known in the past? My pair appear to have the bass driver on top, and the midrange driver at the bottom.
Thanks in advance.

I have a pair of 9's, I never really paid any attention as to which one is the bass driver, which one is midrange driver. As long as you know which one is the right speakers, which one is the left speakers, I think that's all that is required for proper placement.:D

And congrats on the purchase.

Thanks MM,
Yep - got the left on the left and the right on the right, but when I placed my ears against either speaker, the top driver appeared to produce more bass, then down to the tweeter, but the bottom driver was a little more defined. No biggie, as these speakers are sensational, but just the curious type - especially when Polk recommend 30" stands for them (mine are on about 24"), to have the tweeter at ear level.Regards - Gaz from the land of Oz

They are mirror imaged so there is a correct left and right speaker. Also the drivers are crossed over at slightly different points so it's difficult to say which does bass and which does midrange as they aren't distinct. Cabinet and port tuning has a lot to do with the bass output not the difference in drivers x-over.
For proper imaging the L speaker needs to be in the Left position and the R speaker needs to be in the Right position. If I remember correctly that means tweeters on the outside. I'm sure your owners manual mentions this. Also most feel they image much better when they are toed in.
Very nice speakers (I used to own a pair) and enjoy them.

What you are noticing seems odd to me....the bass driver should be on the bottom. Suggest you call Polk customer service to check on that. My LSi9 upper frequency drivers are on the top, as one would expect them to be as is the customary design for all speakers. Also, the tweeters should be on the inside when and the speakers spaced to form an equilateral triangle from your favorite seating position. Toeing them in a little also is a good idea. Whatever, congratulations on your new speakers. They really good ones.B&W 804s mains

John is correct, I forgot the tweeters should be on the inside .
