polk monitor 30,40
hi guys well i have a creative gigaworks http://http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=789&product=9306&nav=1
it has a 7ch out, 70watts/ch @ 8ohms atleast thats what the spec says.
now i want to use either a polk moitor 30 or monitor 40 as my fronts.so can i use it,also use these speakers in BI-AMP mode, since the cambridge/creative sub has a 7ch out i can use a pair of M30 or M40 instead of my existings front speakers, and can run the entire setup in 5.1 since when i BI-AMP i will use additional 2 ch.
so my question is can i do this and will it harm my subwoofer.:(

Corrected link, for anybody trying to offer help:

Those "generous" power ratings, 70 watts/channel, are rated@ 8 ohms @ 0.1% THD @ 1kHz, 2 Channels Loaded).
Load up the whole shooting match, and that amp is going to be crying for mercy, IMO.
The Monitor 40's are definitely out.
Although I like the Monitor 30's (I think of them as Polk's sleeper speakers), putting them into your system would be like mixing apples and oranges.
Hopefully somebody has some experience on what you're trying to accomplish.Sal Palooza -
well here is more info on the speakers that i already havehttp://www.cambridgesoundworks.com/store/category.cgi?category=spk_frontmain&item=53CW0030AA001
here is the info on the subwoofer amplifier for sattelites
http://www.cambridgesoundworks.com/store/category.cgi?category=mul_spk_csw&item=k1sntos4
the subwoofer has a seperate BASH amp giving 210watts for the its 8inch driver.
so the creative speakers are just a rebadged cambridge speakers.
so guys is it safe to use the monitor 30:o.the monitor 30 speakers are still cheaper to buy then the cambridge speakers which cost $200 a pair for that price i can buy a monitor 40. -
I thought the xover for the satellites was actually built into the subwoofer, like Bose? You might want to find out because if that's the case, you shouldn't use different loudspeakers.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm a little confused. Do you want to put M30's on your pc?
Or do you want to put the Gigaworks on your rcvr?I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -

no the sattellites have a seperate crossover built into them, the subwoofer doesnt have a crossover.I'm a little confused. Do you want to put M30's on your pc?

yes i want to put M30 in my pc and use the gigaworks as a amplifier.
also i thought that i can use the more powerfull M40 and use the extra channels available to power a pair of M40 in bi-amp and using a Y connector from the source in my case a sound card or a CD player -
well i need directions guys,so help me out here.

That system wasn't designed to use other speakers.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

well the thing if we look at the creative speakers specs
recommended amp power is 20watts min / 120watts max.
sensitivity 86db
IMPEDANCE 8ohms
now the polk M30
recommended amplifier power 20watts min / 100 watts max.
sensitivity 89db
IMPEDANCE 8ohms.
now by that wont the polk be easier to drive?. -
I never said it couldn't do it, just that you shouldn't do it.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
