Hey guys. I'm looking to complete my combined home theater/listening setup. As of right now I have a pair of Monitor 10B's with SL2000 tweets in the front and a pair of Monitor 7B's with Peerless tweets in the rear (I've got both pair hooked up to my vintage 125 wpc Technics SA-800 receiver which drives these beauties like no other:D). I'm trying to decide on which smaller Monitor speaker will make the best center channel. I've got a line on a pair of Monitor 4's with the SL2000 tweeters, either of which will look pretty sweet in between the 10's. I've also thought of going with 5's or 5jr's. Any ideas on what would sound better?

Thanks in advance!

That's a interesting question for which I have no opinion. I am curious, however, how you intend to get a center channel signal from that fine vintage 2 channel receiver?

heya. i lived in CH/carrboro for the first half of this decade. lots of fun stizz-uff going on there!

first, look here. jakelm built a "frankenpolk" center to compliment his setup.

    he says it blends seamlessly.

otherwise, i woudl probably be looking for a 5 or 5jr for that duty.

    luck!

You mean they didn't have 5.1 surround sound back in '78? j/k I've got them hooked up to a Sony 5.1 receiver as well and I never run the two amps at the same time. Thanks for the link to the frankinpolk. The guy with the 4's wants $50 but I'll counter with $35. Seems fair enough. Might pick up some 5's sometime just to see what the difference is between the whole line.

And yeah, Carrboro is awesome. Moved here from Alabama 9 months ago and I totally love it. Great music always coming through Cat's Cradle.

i have played there several times and in three different bands

so much better since it went smoke free some years ago. that place used to be nasTAY! then again, it was our tradition to finish up the night in HELL! (is that place still there?) wow, what a stinky, dirty, poophole that was. i LOVED it. and i reigned supreme on their air hockey table.
