New tv help me decide

I'm buying a new tv for my bedroom this weekend and I was wondering wich tv is better, I narrowed down to the sony 40" KDL40S3000 (720p)or the Philips 42” 42PFL5603D/27 (1080p) which one is better? I'll be using it mainly to watch hd tv and a ocassional game on the ps3.

    We just bought the exact Sony you listed for the exact reason and placement you are looking at except playing games and am happy with it.

    Never owned either but my brother is quite happy with that Sony. Surprised you are not going after another Panasonic. Good luck.

    the sony is about $150 more, is it worth it even on a 720p?

    I have a Samsung 3252 720p in the bedroom and wish I would have bought a 40". It has a great picture for its size, but I recently saw a Sony XBR4 that blew its picture away and was only a few hundred $ more than the Samsung that I have had for 18 months. I believe it was a 40" or 42" LCD.

    Go on Tweeters web site and you will see that Sony for $889. Damit if I had only seen it before I would have gotten it from them. That is the best price I have seen anywhere and is a no-brainer in my book.
