So today I go to play some new music I had copied... haha

No laughing matter, turns out the Maxtor back up drive has erroed out

And I just lost almost 4,000 songs.

O-M-G

Thankfully 330 of my albums (lost 17 albums) are on my Zune. So now I am in the process of writing those back to my computer...

But I am incredibly mad. I think a new You Tube video is in store.

Whew. I thought something important happen to you.. LOL
sorry, i'm sure it sucks to digitize them again.. but that's the fun thing about MP3's they aren't very stable.. or at least the hardware isn't dependable  ;)

    Im going to be sick...

I plugged in my Zune and it started to remove songs since they are no longer on my computer.

    W-T-F

I'm incredibly* pissed off right now. Words do not describe.

This is like... 10 years of music I've collected. Some I have physical copies of, but alot that... I just had on my computer.

    Wow. I mean seriously, wow.

Sid -- that was an omen from the audio gods. They are purging you of your digital demons. You have been warned.

I feel your pain dude. It only has to happen once and then you'll have at least 2 external backup drives as well as a local copy on your PC. When I lost mine, the impact was not nearly as much as yours.

Now with over 7K songs in two formats (Lame .mp3 & .FLAC), I have too much time invested to let a $100.00+ drive ruin it all.

    Yeah, nothing like redundancy.

That is how you refer to my external Seagate, right? :D
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

    Yikes! Good luck Sid.

I have all my mp3's backed up on cd's, that way if I lose my hard drive I will still have my music.

I know the trend is to get rid of hard copies, but what is going on with you is precisely why cd's & other forms of storage will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

Start burning DVDRW's NOW! External HD's can still get fried if attached to the pc.

Dang, that would totally STINK to lose all your music.

Here's to hoping the HD holds up long enough for you to save them all.
