Monitor series ?

Don't see too much about the monitor series (50 60 70)
is the RTi series better? (HT-music)

DX-1400 and RTI10s
Garage-GTP-450,onkyo M-282 and R50s with RTi55

    Those who have the monitor series seem to like them, but their have been so many low cost deals on the RTi's recently, I think the monitor series just got lost in the shuffle.

    Plus since the monitor series is available in big box stores like best buy and circuit city and are from one of polks lower lines, I think most people who purchase them take them home and listen to them instead of obsessing over them on the internet... :)

    I never obsessed over, never obsessed over, never obsessed over nothing...

    The Monitor series has been accepted as a good speaker, and people just leave it at that. For the price they can't be beat, but HIFI they are not.

    I see that some places are starting to slash the prices on the
    50/60 and 70 series.

    I picked up a refurbished pair of monitor 30s from the Polk factory for $90. I was surprised by their good appearance and build quality - it is a weighty speaker, and definitely does not look cheap or plasticy.

    My only complaint at the price is the slightly boomy bass - granted I haven't had a lot of time to work on positioning yet, and I think that could make a big difference with these smaller speakers.

    Down the road I hope to move these to the rear of a 5.1 setup with rti's in the front. They would probably be best suited for such an application rather than a standalone 2 channel setup.

    I imagine that most people who buy the Monitor line are using them on a cheap reciever and a $20 walmart DVD player. How good could they possibly sound? they do have decent potential when matched with some good gear.
